Adding Pronouns and Gender Flags to Steam Profiles

Dear Steam Support,

I am writing to request the addition of pronouns and gender flag options to Steam profiles.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I believe it is important for players to be able to express their gender identity and pronouns on their profiles. This would allow for a more inclusive and welcoming gaming environment for all players.

Many other online platforms, including social media and gaming services, have already implemented similar features, and I believe Steam should follow suit. This would be a positive step towards creating a more inclusive and respectful community.

Hell no queers, just use the regular steam tools like everyone else and stop wanting to censor things because you can't cope with people not sharing your specific views, the block button exists for a reason.

4chin isn't going anywhere, people you disagree with aren't going anywhere, you aren't getting no stupid "representation" specific features in your profile, just use the available tools.

It's like people have forgotten that teenagers will do anything to piss people off and be edgy, including using imagery like that. Like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's 4chan, nothing they do is serious, it's all primarily to piss people off. And it works.

But what Wayward said is correct, it really doesn't matter if you're doing it as a joke or not. If you do it long enough, eventually people who are not joking and are actually quite sincere about their hatred will join in. When you cultivate a particular audience, you can't act surprised when said audience grows.

And the idea that 4chan is just edgy teenagers is really laughable.

Also the thing is if a teen acts like a Neo-Nazi to be edgy and cool, there's a good chance it'll eventually stop being a joke, as they may start to believe that stuff themselves, or even worse join groups related to it where the people are all serious.

Nazism really isn't a joke, if you act like or pretend to be a Nazi there is a good chance you will become a Nazi if you go too far, especially if you start meeting the wrong people. The fact that people act dismissive towards this is very concerning for that reason.

Now the idea of Steam doing like reviews and banning anyone who awards an offensive post crossed my mind.

That would be a good idea which would definitely help reduce the toxicity and it would also discourage people from giving awards to bad faith actors (you know, people saying trans people should be put to death).

The united states isn't a gender and therefore would not be displayed above OR below gender flags

It also bears mentioning that the flag code is generally not really enforced, especially in regards to private individuals. Moreover, the flag code generally refers to physical flags, not pictures or images of the flag.

Otherwise it would be illegal to wear things like clothing or underwear bearing the American flag, and beyond that it's generally protected by 1st amendment laws.

It is all true. Which means that these people don't really consider it their sexuality, because the entire thing is based on being hateful towards trans people.

People are allowed to have preferences, but trying to base an identity specifically on the fact that you don't find a particular group is not the right thing to do. Especially when it's done with the intent to troll. The fact that it abbreviates to SS is not a coincidence in this case.

Same argument can be made when trans hating straight people. Hate goes both ways. I dont think it is right to claim hate or discrimination when the same group attempting to exclude straight people.
