Do not show hidden games in a tray-icon's list!
Do not show hidden games in a tray-icon's list PLEASE!
Whats the point of hiding them when they can be seen by anybody who just clicks an icon as recently played ones?

Private games are hidden from other people, not your own account.

i suspect OP shares their computer with other people too and possibly their steam account.. so... wants to hide stuff from people that have physical access to their computer.

best way, OP, is probably just logging out of your Steam account when you are not using it.

Well.. I'm not exactly sharing neither my PC nor account, but people sometimes ask me to take a look at a SteamDeck. It's fine while it's in a gaming mode, you need to jump though a couple of hoops to get to hidden games there, but when it's in a desktop one - all it takes is just a simple click on an icon in system tray :(

I'm not asking to hide them from my account completely, I'm just asking not to make it so obvious. They are still all there if I click "View"->"Hidden Games" if I want to play them.

You can manually remove them by right clicking the game on the list and then "Remove from list".
I agree it would be nice to have a single-click way to clear the list or similar, but for now this the solution you have.

I think OP is talking about the icon on the right, not the one on the left where that works.

I'd let them clarify, maybe? Since I don;t use a Deck, and don't login to Steam in a browser, ever- I am only familiar with the taskbar icon on my PC when I am logged into the Steam Client.
And this is what I see: https://prnt.sc/IlNKwkV8ltun
And I right click games I want to remove from the list of recently played this way. So- my bad if there is another icon I am not aware of, unless you mean this one: https://prnt.sc/f4T-SRq0mt7i - which can't be edited, but only shows the the same list as the one you can edit as shown above.

So- hidden icons. Which shows the same thing as the editable list on the visible tray icon.
The solution is the same.
Though you do have to check the list in the tray icon after relaunching the Client or launching/playing/exiting a game- the list will update and repopulate sometimes when you do that.
And it doesn't change my opinion on this:

A one-click method to clear the entire list would be optimal, IMHO. Less optimal (for me) would be a way to expand the short list, and let you [CTRL]+click to select multiple games at once and clear only the selected ones. (Similar to deleting multiple screenshots in the screenshot manager)

Don't give them your Deck when in Desktop mode...?

That's exactly one I'm talking about! And in SteamOS there's no this editable list :(
So what I suggest is very simple - DON'T include hidden games in this list.

Use multiple user accounts. If Steam logs in regardless of what computer account you log into turn off auto-login.

If you're going to play certain games *wink wink* that you don't want people to know you've been playing the simple thing to do is after you've finished playing a game you don't want people to see you've been playing *wink wink*, start five random games up it will take the game off the list from the taskbar icon... Simples. :spazwinky:
