As a sidenote: So did CDPR with GOG Galaxy.
2) Pause the first download and drop and drag the games in the order you wish them to be.
This causes all downloads to have "next" displayed rather that the download icon and each will download one after the other until all downloads are done.
Personally i always do smallest download size to largest.
Valve pays for the traffic from Steam.
also high priority still pauses anything that comes through whilst playing and doesn't auto update either unless you are not playing and / or you set download whilst playing. Not everyone wants this to happen, and not everyone wants to update everything all at once, just having the option would be nice.
If it was constructed (with little effort) to even have a tick box by each update or download, you could then press download all - and have only what you wanted to download actually be processed. Its basic HTML elegance. Having what you selected drop below what you are selecting is basic UI considerations.
It would literally take valve about 30 seconds to implement a tick box and replace all the pause buttons into 1 download button
My main pc is also Linux so it ALSO has a bunch of just checks it does frequently and my ASD does not like knowing there's updates not complete
If you haven't, consider either playing it or uninstalling it or setting its updates to high priority.
Updating a game you aren't going to play just adds wear to your storage device.
