A sensible downloads page
Anyone else get annoyed with two features that have been lacking on the steam app downloads page for way too long?

1) why is there no 'download all' button for when you have lots of updates pending?
solution: make a button top right of the list to 'download all' which queues everything up for you.

2) why do downloads you have clicked go to the top of the page?
solution: if a download in a list is clicked to download now, it pushes the list you are in downward - often making you click the wrong thing next that you thought you where hovering over. This is a first rule on UI web design, so if this is indeed a browser should the rule not apply?. Surely if the downloads you had selected to download now, went below the pending download list, it would not move the list and you could click the thing you where hovering over before you moved the last thing. So simple, it my even mean you wouldnt need a download all button.

Start setting your games' updates settings to High Priority. You won't ever have to feel obliged to manage the updates again. They will update immediately when available and will skip the scheduling.
1. Valve took the Download/Update All button away when covid happened to save bandwidth and I don't think it is ever returning.

1) Valve removed it during covid and have not reintroduced it.

As a sidenote: So did CDPR with GOG Galaxy.

2) Pause the first download and drop and drag the games in the order you wish them to be.

This causes all downloads to have "next" displayed rather that the download icon and each will download one after the other until all downloads are done.

Personally i always do smallest download size to largest.

And yet my ISP tripled their download bandwidth during that period.

Valve pays for the traffic from Steam.

Kinda missing the point - I don't want always to download everything, but the fact that what i choose to update or download in the list moves the list down, its just bad practice to do that in a linearly constructed page. They should move below so the list doesnt hop upwards as you are ticking what you want. The download all just wants to be there for those who do from time to time.

also high priority still pauses anything that comes through whilst playing and doesn't auto update either unless you are not playing and / or you set download whilst playing. Not everyone wants this to happen, and not everyone wants to update everything all at once, just having the option would be nice.

If it was constructed (with little effort) to even have a tick box by each update or download, you could then press download all - and have only what you wanted to download actually be processed. Its basic HTML elegance. Having what you selected drop below what you are selecting is basic UI considerations.

It would literally take valve about 30 seconds to implement a tick box and replace all the pause buttons into 1 download button

Being able to have an update all button again would would really help me, only connect my steam deck to the network occasionally and it's really awkward starting them all

My main pc is also Linux so it ALSO has a bunch of just checks it does frequently and my ASD does not like knowing there's updates not complete

If you have recently played a game, Steam will update it immediately.

If you haven't, consider either playing it or uninstalling it or setting its updates to high priority.

Updating a game you aren't going to play just adds wear to your storage device.
