TYPEFEST 2024/25? A Celebration of Typing Games and the Keyboard
Hello fellow Steam users,

I would like to propose to you an idea. TYPEFEST is just a working name but the idea is that Steam throws an entry-level store festival celebrating Typing games.

https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Typing/

I think this genre has a lot of fun games and potential for overlap with other genres. With the rise of mechanical keyboards and other quality keyboard products I think there is a sufficient userbase and 'fandom' of keyboards and their unique design history and place amongst gaming culture, etc.

Tactility, speed, user interface, innovation within tradition, language and words are many of the wonderful keyboards surrounding such a potential festival and topic.

Please join me in your thoughts and ideas around this if you would be so kind. I apologize deeply if this has been presented before; in no way do I wish to compete with any others interested but rather find unity and kinship around a mutual love for typing.

I think there is many wonderful artistic opportunities for banners, stickers, and other familiar stapes in the festival circuit here on Steam.

Signing off from these beloved old dusty clackety keys,

Developers and associated parties can already make their own themed events, including marketing for typing based games. I don't believe it would be popular enough for Valve to make that type of event themselves.

Typing games are mostly educational purposes. Therefore not a lot are made.

There's more than meets the eye!
You can ask those Developers if they want to make their own Event for typing games, but they do not read this section, so you can contact them in their game hubs or on their websites.
Most events are made by 3rd parties & Developers working together.

Sounds great! I did post this here to also engage other Steam users, generate ideas, showcase games and celebrate typing for potential growth and maybe Steam sanctioned festival even if it's far off into the future...I think it would be great!

But yes...............I'll reach out, let's get started. Thank you.

Also;
Capitalism and Economy Fest: January 8 - 15
Pirates vs. Ninjas Fest: January 22 - 29
Dinos vs. Robots Fest: February 26 - March 4

Give me hope for more niche festivals and fun events.
I personally feel that typing, words, keyboards, maybe even expand to add language/linguistic elements is more inspiring and interesting than captialism. However, I may be alone in this.

Anyways, thanks for reading and appreciate your consideration!

This sounds like a great idea, and maybe you would like our typing game, Glyphica : Typing Survival!
Very good idealogy.
Yes typing games are educational and that is a great reason to celebrate.

We at https://typingbird.com make typing games and we live creating it.

Do let us know what is needed to make this happen.....

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
