Why doesn't Valve support the LGBTQ+ community by implementing rainbow text and rainbow background for the remainder of Pride Month?

Because both would be horrid to look at and even worse to try to read. Rainbow backgrounds and text are why websites don't let us choose the color of our profiles anymore.

I disagree, I think they should keep all religion off the platform entirely, especially far-left cults that promote harm to children. You need to remember that this platform is family friendly and inclusive to everybody so it’s unlikely they will start promoting such divisive nonsense.

"Right side of history" according to whom? Steam is international company that contracts over 100 different countries. Some of those countries could terminate said contract over something like this. Many countries that steam has a stake on it also criminalized LGBTQ. Steam has to take a neutral position on this.

You as a user can use the text boxes or modify your profile to fit your preference.

Not every wealthy individual or company needs to cater to things irrelevant to their business, and not all individuals and companies want to get involved in social political matters.

Some of the top buying countries on steam are not for that sort of thing either.

Maybe just let the video game store sell video games. Devs can do their own thing and so can users on places that do such. But here, they sell video games not politics.

They don't need to provide stuff that makes things harder to read. It would also bring out all the bigots 1000 times worse then they already are on the forums. Now if they actually perma community banned them, I'd be all for it but they won't do that so, no reason to bother doing it.

The biggots already get upset and rant how there is no straight sale when Valve has a few days sale for LGBTQ+ related games. Again Valve moderation needs to perma ban people when they go on these rants.

If game developers want to provide stuff like that fine, but Valve doesn't need to do it.

Well, Steam already has a separate client for China, so technically speaking in this case nothing they add to the main client would have to affect the one available in China.

And as far as I know, Steam hasn't run afoul of any German laws recently. If you're referring to the lack of adult games in Germany that's more to do with the fact that Germany requires a specific kind of age verification for purchasing that kind of game. However, Valve is too lazy to add proper age verification so they've instead opted to just not sell those games to German customers.

You do understand that the "support" you see from those companies that change their logos or site design to include the various rainbows are only attempting to gain your sympathy in order to drive you to buy more of their products, right?

Usability. Same reason why we don't get white text over a yellow background.

Light grey over dark color is already bad enough for old people as to make it worse.
