Stop notifying my friends when I boot a game
TL;DR --- give me an option that stops my friends getting notified I'm in a game.

---

I am going through a clicker game addiction at the moment. The most clickers I've had running on my computer at the same time is 14.

The issue with that (or any multiple numbers of games running) is that my friends get notified each time I boot a game. To prevent them receiving all those notifications I don't go 'online' to my Friends List.

But I want to be able to sign in to my Friends List AND be able to boot all those games without 150 friends getting notified 14 times.

So, give me a option in settings to turn off my notifications annoying my friends.

Thanks.

But assuming that I want to be proactive here and save them from the annoyance because I'm just a hoopy frood like that, I suppose an option would be nice not to broadcast the fact that I started a game...

Exactly. Awesome input there. :pinkheart:
To be honest I am also quite annoyed especially as my bro has a game that keeps crashing and I constantly get notifications stating he has booted a game, same goes for family share.
Edit: Nevermind I turned that off.
Edit 2: It is also a privacy issue so I can totally see where this person is coming from.

If you're concerned about ppl seeing the games you play in a system designed for friend gaming maybe you should re-evaluate your friend/gaming choices

But can't they turn off the notifications on their end?

The damage is then already done. They're annoyed enough to turn off the notifications due to a moment in time - they won't know how long that period of time will last - the notifications may stay off.

So, yes. But no, the way it is right now 'does not' solve the problem.

I think you already have that option, and you may be able to use "invisible mode" for that.

So then yes, they can turn off notifications when you are gaming. Problem solved.

Except it isn't solved by doing that. I already said that. If you reiterate it a third then that's just dumb. But go ahead ...

Easiest fix is to set your game details to private at https://steamcommunity.com/my/edit/settings.

Nope. That skirts around the issue. Not a fix.

Except that it is in fact the only way to stop broadcasting your status of in-game.
