I have been trying to get a Steam Gift Card from another country, and the steam page says and I quote: "Note: If the gift card you attempt to redeem is not in your currency, it will be automatically converted if redeemable in your region. Not all gift card currencies can be redeemed in all regions." It would be very useful to have some kind of indication if my region can receive a certain kind of currency or not. As far as I have searched, there is nothing like that. Thank you.

Don't know where you got that text but only digital gift cards send from account to account convert to recipients wallet currency. Physical gift cards can only be redeemed if the funds on the card in same currency as funds in your wallet. If your wallet is, say, in USD then you can only redeem USD physical gift cards.

We have made some changes to how Steam Wallet Codes are redeemed on Steam, as part of our ongoing effort to reduce scams like the ones explained HERE. These changes should not impact regular customers who enjoy using Steam wallet codes they purchase at retail in their local currency.

Each Steam User Account is associated with a specific currency, which you can see in the top right corner of your Steam Client. Going forward, you may encounter an error if you try to activate a Steam Wallet Code issued in a different currency than the one of your Steam User Account.

I see, that makes sense. My confusion came from the redeem wallet code page. In that page both physical and digital ones are bundled together in the descriptions. Though the gift card page does clarify that digital ones can be converted. Thanks for the help.
