Obviously, but that requires you to manually pause and play, and have that file pre loaded. it'd be nice to just have it automatically work depending on if you're in the steam menu or not, having to grab your keyboard and manually do it is just impractical and inconvenient. the whole point of big picture mode is to emulate the console experience, i use it from my couch on my tv with a controller.
Any decent music player can and does play the music in the background. You can already have it up and running before launching steam or launching big picture mode. Best of all you wouldn't be limited to just 1 song. Get tried of the that song playing, change it with the press of a button or hit pause, heck turn the volume up or down... while in big picture mode.
Many keyboards come with multi-media keys now so have dedicated buttons.
I don't know if it still exists or not but there is a music player in steam that you might be able to use the controller with in BPM. Not sure if that was a thing or not, as I've used BPM a max of like 3 or 4 times for just enough time to try to find the exit button to it.
Either way, you can already have stuff playing and go start your game. I don't see the point though, just how long are you spending in the menu, doesn't take me long to decide on a game and go play it. I have music playing in the background already via winamp on the same PC and leave it go once in the game (I turn off in game music from every game)
It's not because you don't need something that other people don't need it lol
yeah it seems like an awesome project. i'd totally use it if i had a steam deck haha, unfortunately doesn't seem like there's anything like that for just steam big picture on pc though :(
