Demos that are limited time only
Can we get a note somewhere on the main Steam page for games or their demo pages stating how long the demo will be up for? Its one thing for it to be only during the demo fest weeks but I just downloaded a demo last night only to see it ended this morning and their is only the purchase option available.

I wouldn't have bothered to download the 16Gb demo last night if I knew I couldn't play it the next day.

Did you do any research before you downloaded it?
Because of you did you probably would have found out .
The page said nothing about the demo being time limited. But yeah, the trend these days is a demo gets deleted just after a game's release. If I have to spend a couple of minutes finding out on the forums or the web if a demo is going to be taken down shortly, that is already too much time and bandwidth to waste on a demo.
Unless it's a demo for players to try to see if they like the game before buying the full game, most demos are removed when the game releases.

Or at the end of Steam Fest
Valve doesn't control when publishers will tell them to pull something from the Steam store.
If this is about the "Pacific Drive" demo I must say I liked how it started out with car fixing but after that you get to drive to the first mission destination and then it ends. I'm certain I burned thru two hours so it wont be returned after purchase. The suspense curiosity is upon me now.
Even Croteam removed the Talos 2 demo when the game released. I understand why they did it but they did have a warning on the demo page that it was going to be removed when the game released.

Most of the time, Valve doesn't know it is being removed until it is and even then, a Steamworks partner can remove them whenever.

No, it wasn't Pacific Drive though I did play much of that demo. I stopped just after you fix up the car and drive out to the first mission. That was at least a steam fest demo so I figured it was time limited. Though I missed the whole part about no saves while on missions, that would have turned me off the game and did when I read about it a day later or so.

This game yesterday was Classified France '44. Saw it being played online last night, saw it had a demo and downloaded it to play it tonight. Only it was removed and only had the purchase option when I fired up Steam earlier to day. I get why devs remove demos after a game release but the game had been out for 2-3 days already. Just give people a heads up or something. It has happened too often to me in the past 1-2 years.

Nice to see Croteam had a warning for their game.
