Remove the jester award. People have misused it.

This steam award is to my knowledge, only used with malicious intent. People will slap it only on reviews or posts they don't like and want to belittle.

It's unfortunately gotten so bad, that people have been making troll posts just to farm steam points from the award.

I actually had to hide the awards on my profile because someone gave that profile the award for all to see.

With all this in mind, I believe it's best that the jester award has to be removed.

(Edit: and those jester awards that have been slapped on here only prove my point.)

Valve knows how it's used. Same reason they allow posts and replies that technically violate the TOS.

No, those are not good examples of a post which uses humor to highlight some relevant, uncomfortable meaning.

I'll suggest that award farming in general is an issue, not just the jester. If they removed all the points given to the recipient, this would eliminate the incentive to farm for awards.

Why did you give 7 Jester awards if you deem it is used with malicious intent?

As mentioned in MANY other threads on this topic, just removing the jester won't solve things because people will consider other awards insulting, in fact some people have already complained about other awards being insulting.

The only solution is to fully remove ALL the awards from every part of Steam they were put in. But I doubt thats going to happen because, they were a huge mistake from the start (because of the spam, whining and other problems they caused) but it seems like Valve doesn't care about those problems so it seems we're stuck with them.

So just ignore them, don't complain about them because the more you complain about them the more people will hit you with jesters. People at first gave me jesters, but when I didn't react to them or get made in the forums, they pretty much gave up giving me jesters because they got no reaction from me. I personally do not care about awards at all, they gave me a bunch of steam steam points that are just gathering digital dust as I just don't care about points.

The only reason why I even bother having the awards show on my profile is because people accused me of giving them jester awards when in fact I have given no awards at all. So they are up so that I can prove I have given zero awards.


In the end, just ignore them. Turn off everything that tells you that you got awards and just keep doing what you're doing. Maybe one day Valve will finally wise up about the awards... but I doubt it.

Jester award is form of personality. I could live with the jester profile award beyond world end.

I've seen far more threads about removing awards than actual threads were awards were abused in any way.

Nah, I say keep it. A lot of people gave me jesters thinking it was hurting me. All it did was make me even more powerful.

Waiting for someone to try and tell you “they were a different person!” at the time, only to find more jesters were given since.
