Make an option to set porn profiles private and exclude porn games to you.
Hello, everyone. There are a lot of kids here on Steam, and they can find some disgusting porn profiles and their innocence will be ruined forever. Steam only has options to blur that kind of content, but you still can see it with 2 clicks, nothing stops you. And if we bare in mind children's curiosity then those options don't do anything for children safety. I suggest to make an option (by default) to set those profiles private to you only. If anybody else want to see that then fine, but it's shouldn't be normal or this open here on Steam, because as far as i know Steam isn't a porn site. Same with porn games, just exclude them if this option is on. I know money is everything for some people, but there are things more important than money.

Porn games are excluded by default and have to be turned on by selecting "adult only games" in the account settings. The problem is that Valve relies on users being honest about their age because the alternative is having to somehow try and verify ages across every country they operate in and they've demonstrated they aren't interested in doing that by the fact they just don't sell those games in Germany because Germany requires a verified age.

Steam does have parental controls in the form of family view which is coupled with store preferences. So you can set up family view, then in preferences filter out frequent violence, nudity/sexual content, adult only etc for the store and community content. and as long as family view is on those settings can't be changed by the child without the pin number.

Or you can turn off community generated content, the store, profiles etc. in it's entirety if so desired. It's not perfect, but it's there for use and does prevent a lot of these issue's.

1) Adult Sexual Only Content is OFF by default.

2) Responsible parents use Family View to restrict what their children can see.

3) Irresponsible parents leave access to their PC where children can see real life porn.

It is odd that you play GTA games which shows children banks being robbed, people being shot etc but you see no issue with those games.

"Think of the children" always is a poor way to say "I don't like it". so just say that, OP.

Parents are responsible for ensuring their kids browse as "safe" as the parents want it to be. All kinds of settings via Family View can be used by parents.

The "porn" games are disabled by default, content is blurred. To me that's enough.

It's because of the cultural zeitgeist. Nowadays extreme hyperviolence is good, porn is bad.

Man, I remember when Mortal Kombat and DOOM led to the creation of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ESRB because extreme hyperviolence in games was considered bad. Now kids less than 12 are playing Call of Duty and GTA... slinging slurs and ♥♥♥♥.

Once was enough. No need to post the same thing in multiple forums. Your Off Topic thread was enough, or posting it here was enough. Reposting it in multiple subforums is spam.
