Add "Monster Taming" as a tag!

Never once in a real conversation have I said, "Did you play that new creature collector game?". I have and have always heard them referred to as monster taming games. Creature Collector has no precedent and fans of the genre have been using "Monster Taming" for years. Official reddit page, discords, yearly direct, etc all use it. The community and devs like my self would really appreciate the tag added.

Lots of people adding the tag actually shows practical recognition of the idea. And is much more visible to Valve than a thread in a subforum they don't frequent much, if at all...

Some of the users here were told by steam support to make a thread but YES please tag the games as monster taming. One of the problems is that when u tag as 'monster tamer' steam auto changes it to 'creature collector' there's nothing weird or smelly going on here, the original poster is a game dev who has made a monster taming game, and I've pushed for this, so that the genre is easier to find and so that more people use the correct terminology. It's a tag for a genre, it isn't that deep lol

Yes, support sure likes to send people to the forums about things that support does not handle. People still don't realise it's a very polite "Don't bother us with this, go away".

What other users are or are not saying is none of my concern nor has to do with me, please direct such things towards them.

If you want such a tag added, you need to start tagging games with the tag you want to see. Then it has a chance of getting added to the database. If you don't, it's unlikely anything happens. It's a simple proces, it isn't that deep.

Monster taming/tamer is a better term simply for the fact that a lot of games in the Creature Collector" don't really fit the bill. You aren't collecting inanimate objects.

More often than not you end up breeding them, building up a team that you really like and enjoy playing with, and even doing things like farming and crafting with them and the materials that they might collect or drop.

I would say that a lot of people would see them more as pets or companions than just creatures that you catch for the sake of filling up some kind of encyclopedia and then being done with it.

I agree that this tag should be implemented, it should have been long ago.

I agree! It gathers all games of the genre under one title. I am working on a Monster tamer with an Indie company and we got confused when setting up our Steam page and whether we should use monster tamer or creature collector, and more confused when we couldn't find the Monster tamer tag, even though it's widely used amongst the players.

I have officially added the "Monster Taming" tag to the following games I own:

Adore, Anode Heart, Cassette Beasts, CoroMon, Digimonstory Cybersleuth, Disc Creatures, Monster Sanctuary, Monster Tribe, Monsters of Seabrook, temtem showdown, Volzerk: Monsters and Lands Unknown, Weirdlands

I have also made sure to add the tag "Monster Taming" to these games also:

Aethermancer, Beastieball, Monster Hunter Stories, Necromancer's Gift, Palworld, temtem and Thaumaturge.
