Monster Taming is a better tag than Creature Collector for Monster Rancher, and likely many other games whose primary focus isn't about the acquisition of a thing to complete a book/dex etc.
unless steam/the gaming industry wants to diversify the genre more, keeping both with creature collecting moreso for games that are more real-life interpretations (?) of critter collecting or that contain those elements (examples: ACNH, Coral Island, Bug & Sneak).
I just tried tagging one (Anode Heart) as "Monster Tamer" and when I submitted the tag it was automatically changed to "Creature Collector". Does this actually count as a use of "Monster Tamer" behind the scenes? If not, this route won't work...
