Add "Monster Taming" as a tag!
Never once in a real conversation have I said, "Did you play that new creature collector game?". I have and have always heard them referred to as monster taming games. Creature Collector has no precedent and fans of the genre have been using "Monster Taming" for years. Official reddit page, discords, yearly direct, etc all use it. The community and devs like my self would really appreciate the tag added.

I absolutely agree, monster taming makes more sense for many games like Digimon, Nexomon, Palworld, etc. Also everyone has called it monster taming since the dawn of time anyhow.

Creature collector includes things like aquarium games and zoo games, this is a niche in its own of course, but fitting those types of games together with Digimon Story Cybersleut, Disc creatures, monster crown and many other games doesn't quite seem right.
Please add this tag!

It smells of something, that's for sure. 179 replies mostly all +1-ing the topic for Steam to do it when all it would take are those 179 users to go to those games and adding the tag themselves.
There's a decent online community of monster taming fans and, if others here are like me, I heard about this thread on Steam and came here to support the idea. As a fan, I would love for the genre to get a bit more recognition.
Lots of people adding the tag actually shows practical recognition of the idea. And is much more visible to Valve than a thread in a subforum they don't frequent much, if at all...
One of the main problems is that fact that "creature collector" is too broad of a phrase. A creature collector game can be a monster tamer but that is not always true. A monster tamer game can be a creature collector but that is also not always true.

Some of the users here were told by steam support to make a thread but YES please tag the games as monster taming. One of the problems is that when u tag as 'monster tamer' steam auto changes it to 'creature collector' there's nothing weird or smelly going on here, the original poster is a game dev who has made a monster taming game, and I've pushed for this, so that the genre is easier to find and so that more people use the correct terminology. It's a tag for a genre, it isn't that deep lol
I support the Monster Taming tag

Nothing smelly here, just trying to get steam to use the correct terminology, since they added the tag somewhat recently. Some were told to make a thread bout the issue since tagging games as 'monster tamer' corrects them to 'creature collector', though monster taming still works.

We have been trying to get a unified name for the genre within the community for years and finally achieved it for the most part, only for some people to start randomly calling them CCs because steam decided to use that tag.

The OP is a game dev in the genre, one of many Indies that agree on this.

this is literally just a way to help unify terminology a bit better, not some conspiracy against fishing sims lol
Gotta be monster taming
Absolutely agree, commenting for support!
I support this.
I am in support of this tag change/ addition
It is monster taming. has been for a long time and that is the best sounding one. Please add the tag.
Agreed! That the name Monster taming is what we use in these kind of games and it makes sense.
