Valve has no idea how long it takes to beat a game (not even their own) and they are not going to include the information from 3rd party websites that may or may not be accurate and then get blamed when the info is not accurate because the people beat the game faster then whats mentioned or it takes them much longer to beat then mentioned.
If you have already bought a game, then who cares how long it takes to beat it, you bought it for other reasons, so play it for those reasons and for enjoyment.
So if you go to "Howlongtobeat" it makes a very good estimation to, if you play main missions only, main+side, etc. I feel at least they could put the general time to beat (btw, Xbox PC has it and it is taken from Howlongtobeat)
It doesn't have to be 100% accurate, it's an estimation after all, but most of all for me, to know approximately the game's length. So if you have a lot of people saying 10 - 15, it's given me an idea of what to expect, and if I have time to start this now or play it later when I have more free time.
My main thing is to know approximately how long it is, nothing is accurate, but you know your play style, you would know generally how long it will take you if you have a general idea of the game's time.
Also, some people are rage machines, they'll get angry no matter what, imo, Howlongtobeat is the best (and afaik the only way(?) to know how long a game takes to finish)
But as option, sure. Options always are good.
Actually yes it does have to be 100% accurate if Valve is doing it because they will be blamed if its not accurate. They will get the refund demands if they are not accurate. They will get the threat of lawsuits from game developers for hurting their sales on steam if they are not accurate.
3rd party sites can get away with it because its people self reporting the times and they will say "its not accurate".
