Crappy games!
Can we please have a way to turn off anime or 8bit games in steam. Steam has gone way off the deep end by allowing these games to clutter up the steam experience. If people want to look at these games give them their own tab. I for one am tired of slogging through a bunch of crappy games to find a good one. I will not be buying any anime games nor will I be buying any "RPG" maker games where any 8 year old can make a game and add it to steam. I've been through the que many times clicking not interested yet it does nothing to clean up the crap.

I spend a lot of money on steam between my own account and my 4 childrens accounts so I feel I have the right to at least ask for a darn tab.

I'm not trying to get these games removed from steam. If you are one that likes anime and 8-16 bit games that's fine I'm just tried of them. I grew up playing asteroids and donkey kong and Atari, intellivision, commadore 64, Macintosh,286/386/486 PC just to name a few! I've had my fun with lame graphics and limiting gameplay. I understand the interest but I want games that push it a little more not go back to the 1980s.

Seems to me it is just a way to clutter steam up with one dollar games to squeeze the kids.

I'm sorry if you take offense to my opinion but I bet you would agree that Steam needs some more ways to personalize what you see and how you spend your money.

They already use "tags" so just let me choose what tags I do not want on my steam. For me it would be anime and 8 bit.

Funny that you say these games worsen your Steam experience, except they improve mine. Before late 2010, Steam was basically a place that I had little if any interest in, at all. Then they started getting some doujin (i.e. Japanese indie) games and 2D platformers and JRPGs and then I was like, okay, now we're talkin'.

The games you like aren't going anywhere, by the way. They're still heavily marketed, heavily advertised, and the talk of the town as far as the PC gaming world is concerned. There's far more chatter about Fallout 4 and Arkham Asylum and Skyrim and Arma III than they do about Recettear and The Legend of Heroes and VVVVVV and Clannad, to say nothing of even lesser-known games.

If you don't like Steam shoving games in your face, I suggest the following:

1. Making Steam default to the library when it is started.
2. Buying DRM-free (i.e. buying from places like GOG) so you don't have to put up with Steam using its client as a way to push ads on you.
3. Using negative tag filtering in the store search.

They already do that.

Go to any game's store page. See the Tags below the description right of the Trailers & Pics? Below the Tags is an option called "add your own tags".
Once you add in whatever, search by tags, then select "Your Tags".

There you go.

Just helping with giving an example:
-craft, -rpg, -adventure
^That will make it so the search results exclude ANY game that has those tags associated with it. You can do the exact same thing on every other site with a Search Engine, like Google.
