Games like the old Final Fantasy / old school JRPG games.
Is there anything new or recent that is like the old school JRPG games?

Probably the best JRPG on Steam right now, especially if you include its second half, whose English translation was finally completed and released last year.

There are also some FF games on Steam, as well as a number of other JRPGs and action RPGs and other RPG-like games, including the Ys games (Oath, Origin, Ark of the Napishtim, Chronicles), Eternal Senia, The Sacred Tears TRUE, Recettear, Chanteilse, Fortune Summoners, etc..
