Valve changed their rules and smurfing isn't allowed anymore in their games. Saw some screenshots from dota2 woth people who got banned for smurfing. CS might follow.

There are plenty of reasons to smurf, some are toxic, some necessary. Like if you want to play with a friend who is higher/lower ranked you need to get a 5 stack or a acc higher/lower ranked. Also deranking duo to inactivity can result in beeing in a lower rank than you should. Valve should change these things to minimize smurfing.

Next to that since smurfing isn't allowed it would be cool if we could finally fuse our accs together. I've multiple accs since steam release because I owned 3 half life's because of my lan community where we bought them on mass together and after everyone got theirs two were left. I also created some accs later. One only to play with lower ranked friends in CS (instead of Supreme/Global it was against DMG-LEM) , one to test non prime and for a guide I wrote (no mm matches played in prime) and one for benchmarking PCs and laptops.

I think everyone has different reasons to have multiple accs. I myself always only played on two accs really and haven't even played on one of them for like 2 years now.

Valve could minimize the smurfing even more if we could fuse our accs together. Games we own, playtime, comments etc. all should be added to one acc. I'd fuse all 5-6 accs together, would make my time easier aswell. Of course we can now say "just play on one acc" but as I said I've different games on different accs and I'm kinda a statjunky. I never was a fan of leaving something behind. Same with World of warcraft chars. I would never delete a character but it would be cool if we could fuse chars of the same class together.

I'm quite sure valve won't do this but at least I wanted to share my idea, it would surely minimize smurfing. I honestly don't know which acc I'll use. I used one alt for mm as I said. On my main I only played faceit. It's all kinda confusing, I guess that's my inner monk.

I've posted it here and not in cs hub because dota2 is also part of all this and it's a suggestion/idea.

As long as you are not using the account to be in a lowered skill group than what you should be in, like on your main account.

you are talking about smurfing which is a skill based player playing a game with people who have no skill. which in itself is the essence of cheating.

where as more over smurfing players tend to cheat anyway so that is the next divide between the skill level ratio, your talking about a experienced player who is cheating, joining the game with unskilled first time players

as you can see the topics all relevant there is no reason to get bent outta shape

as i stated prime has a ton of cheating as well, but you wouldn't know it at first glance because the cheating is done by experienced cheaters who know how to not get caught. that is what prime did, it created a group of individuals who cheated cautiously to not trigger any type of ban so they wouldn't have to rebuy the game.

non prime is of course disposable so they cheat non stop , but even buying accounts that have prime show up on casual non prime matchs and yes i report tons of low level smurf and cheating accounts all the same.


i have seen talk about using the same phone number on different accounts can link them together, not sure something simple like loading alternate accounts on steam should link them together as well

You are right, some people see smurfing as cheating. But the interpretation is wrong. Not entirely wrong tho. Because smurfing isn't cheating but it is "cheating the system". I think it is important to clarify that / make sure everyone is on the same page.

I'd also say that people who smurf aren't more likely to cheat, their intention is to cheat (cheat with programs like using wallhack). So these are not "smurf" accounts but just throw away accs to cheat on.

If someone says "I'm a smurf" often they just claim that because they're on a power trip. They don't want to admit that they're bad but cheat. Those aren't smurfs, they just say that - they're just cheater on throw away accs.

Also as I said there are many reasons for big skill gaps. If a professional or any very good player who usually plays in leagues, tournaments and on faceit plays in MM he would even look like a smurf against global player. As I said I also get called out for beeing a smurf in the highest ranks. I only reply then "smurfing in supreme? How is this possible?".

Even tho the cheating situation in prime since CS2 got worse it's still not as bad as it is and was in non prime. I'd tested non prime for way over 100 hours. Every single DM has at least 2-3 spinbot cheater and 5+ cheater with wh/aimbot. Non prime roughly has 50% cheater. As I said I've played non prime ranked when this was still possible. I did this to write a guide many people wanted to see.

I had to play on a new acc together with a friend so we can see if personal performance matters and it barely matters as we found out. We played in non prime and basically all games we played had blatant cheater - they got banned. Overall in like 13 games we had 30 convicted cheater.

Haven't played much CS2 prime mm but it can't be that bad.

Either way. This all goes WAAAAAY off topic. This thread isn't about cheating at all. It is about smurfing, what valve should/could do, what to do as a user etc. pp.

It seems like you just write down things you write in all threads without really taking into consideration what the topic of the thread is my friend...

It is allowed. Yes. And as you any other user has a questionmark above their head aswell. That's why it is important to tell us what exactly is a ban reason. What do they interpret as smurfing etc.

But there are different examples I'd like to get answered, I'd like to hear your opinion (and everyone's elses opinion) - even tho sadly our opinions don't necessarily have to be on the same page as valves actual rules, but still:

Example 1:
- A person has more than one acc, he plays more than one acc but these accs are very similar in rank so there is no "playing against lower skilled enemies". Is this smurfing?

Example 2:
- A person might or might not have more than one acc but he only plays MM on one. He is on a lower rank than he should be for a multitute of possible reasons like rank decay or because he trained a lot, got very good over a short time and the rank couldn't keep up. Is he smurfing?

Example 3:
- Someone just plays on his acc but since he plays in a 5 stack and the ranks vary a lot they get matches against the average rank of their premade, but he (or someone else) is way higher ranked than the average enemy. Is this smurfing?

Example 4:
- Someone has performance issues, is very inconsistant. Sometimes he plays very good, sometimes very bad. His rank also changes a lot aswell as his stats and how people think about him. Is he smurfing?

There are even more possible examples but I think that's enough. For me personally I think no one of these examples is smurfing. But what does valve think about that? We had this discussions quite a lot of time when overwatch was still a thing. A lot of people wanted to ban people for smurfing via overwatch. But when you look at a demo of a player and he absolutely reks the enemies how sure can you be that he is smurfing and not just one of those 4 examples? Of course skill difference is a thing we can see but it doesn't have to be him exploiting the system. A lot also face silver enemies when they're global. We see screenshots of those matchups nearly every day in the forum.

You know. I just don't want that anyone getting a false cheating ban for smurfing just because the system failed him.

Edit: I think I want to make it a bit more transparent, these are my accs:

Mains, those were global til 2018. Then deranked duo to inactivity and started to track all games:

They were always in the highest ranks, haven't played on the second one for nearly 4 years now. Haven't played on the other main for a year now.
Haven't even played a single match on my third main nor on my benchmark account.

That's the acc I used for the guides. I played the matches til we got a rank in non prime. Then I played some more but all in high ranks aswell. Overall I played like 15 games in prime, all in MGE-LEM.

That's the acc I used 99% of the time. As you can see the rank changes are huge from MG ranks to LEM ranks. My stats were always very similar (even tho they got worse this year) and I also don't see a skill difference between MG's and player above since the rank fluctuation is very high as you can see in my own case aswell.

For me - even tho I've multiple accs, this isn't smurfing (beside the 10 comp wins in non prime for the guide which was necessary) since I always played with the same people at the same rankrange. So even when I'd play further on more than one acc this shouldn't be ban worthy.

But I'd gladly fuse accs together. I don't really need many. As I said: I have 3 main accs because of 3 Half Life CDs from 1998. Used the one acc to test for the guide, created this acc here when csgo went f2p to test non prime and when I reached level 21 I kept playing on this acc and have the benchmark acc. I'd gladly fuse 5 accs together. Minus the benchmark acc. There is a reason why I have that acc since I log on a lot of systems including ones I don't own and in case someone has a cheat I don't want to get banned by mistake for that when I'm on the benchmark map (in case you wonder: I'm a IT guy so benchmarking things is fun for me).

So what do you - and others think?
