Why are Steam users directed here for feedback
This post isn't for you, user, it's for Steam.
Why are we sent to a public forum for issues and suggestions with Steam? It seems to me that it's easier to allow "the public" to shame and ridicule another person's problems / complaints / feedback than it is to address the person themselves.
I can understand the concept of "an open conversation" where other's can shed light on different facets of an issue. But that's not the standard here; threads are riddled with name calling, sarcasm, and judgment, with little to no repercussions. This is an atrocious system.

Valve will not respond to your post. This is the user discussion area.

They direct people here because they are using a script and don't want to take the time to point people in the right direction.

Steam support is not for suggestions or ideas for Steam or any game, they are account and billing issues only.

If you have a suggestion for the steam client or website, make it here.
If you have a complaint about a moderator, there is a link in the message you got from them.
If you have a complaint/question/ideas/suggestion about a game, go post it in the games discussion area.
If you have an issue/complaint/question/ideas/suggestion with Index (hardware or software), post it in the Index section.
If you have an issue/complaint/question/ideas/suggestion with the Deck (hardware or software), post it in the Deck section.
If you have an issue/complaint/question/ideas/suggestion with Big Picture Mode, post it in the Big Picture Mode section.
If you found a bug in Steam client (regular or beta), post in the steam client beta area.

Most complaints about the client/website are just rants with no actual suggestion Or they are basically reposts of the same complaints/rants over and over again and people just don't bother to search before hand.

And so on and so on.... you get the idea. There are lots of sections around Steam to post in the correct area. If you are not posting in the right area, generally users will tell you you are posting in the wrong section and point you to the right section. Generally most people should be able to figure that out on their own, some don't.

Some people just won't get it into their heads that they need to post in the correct spot when they are told they are posting in the wrong spot.

The moderation in the last couple of years has gone WAY down hill since they retired the vmods who used to post in the forums and got to know the community and the trouble makers and would usually take care of the problems before they grew. Which of course ticked off the trouble makers and they kept making lots and lots of complaints and rant threads about being unfairly banned when we could clearly see they kept breaking the rules.

Then you have people who complain about others being rude and stuff when in fact they were just given answers they didn't like and didn't want to hear.

You aren't sent for issues unless your asking support for dealing with stuff that isn't related to what support handles.

Support are not developers, and they aren't going to forward every email to developers. Having a forum developers can read if they want is more useful.

Suggestion's aren't addressed, so it sounds like your not describing an actual suggestion. The overwhelming majority of posts are not shaming or ridiculing people. Posting the flaws of an idea and why it wouldn't work isn't shaming anyone.

That has nothing to do with the suggestion system, and has to do with people posting on forums, just ignore name callers and report them and let mods deal with them.

Most of the name calling I see are from people who lose their minds when the flaws of their ideas are pointed out, no matter how politely.

Because it's about issues Steam Support doesn't deal with. It's simply a very polite "we don't do this, don't bother us with this, go away!!".

And where they don't tell you to use discussions for feedback, that they don't read.

They tell you.

You've been directed to use Steam's normal report features in the past. This direction has not changed.

We will not be engaging with you via Steam Support ticket regarding this matter. Please report content that you're confident violates Steam's rules as you encounter it.

or not. because https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata don't lie.

We're directed here to expose the lie obviously. It's the cake, right? The cake is a lie.

Discussions on the forum have nothing to do with reporting. Attempting to circumvent the normal reporting features does indeed have repercussions including up to a ban from being able to contact support

If you're being sent here its because your issue has nothing to do with the things under Valve/Steam's domain.

Honestly there's very little shaming and ridiculing when people have sincere problems. You'll generally get some advice or solutions. If you're getting sarcasm, and name-calling thrown back at you.. then you make have to look closely at how you conduct yourself.

The forums are a rather great mirror. The same vibes and and energy you put out, is the same vibes and energy you'll get back.

They do...that doesn't mean they're obligated to act on anything.

Users are directed here so there is a central point to post feedback/suggestions. Regarding everything else, naming and shaming isn't allowed, it is their rules not yours.

This section of the Steam forums is the Valve team's polite and discreet way of telling you to spare them with open tickets about bugs and what every Steam user wants to find on this gaming platform. Got it?

Me: Hey Steam, how 'bout this?
Steam: just go to the public forum and we'll get around to it
Public forum: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on ideas IS discussion;.This is a public space, know your environment; Mad no one agrees? Cry about it; I don't need to say anything accurate or helpful but YOU need to agree with me or you're a smooth brain.

Great resource Valve. Great way to covertly blow your customers' feedback off.

When did steam ever tell you they would get around to it by simply posting it on the public forum? If you have an idea you post it here. Users then discuss the idea and that will include users pointing out the flaws to an idea, or why an idea you think is good isn't as good when you have a fresh set of eyes on it.

Feedback doesn't mean change, lots of feedback will never be implemented.
