I bought a computer last year, including an RTX 3070. I'm not complaining that I could have bought a 4XXX card just months later.
I mean if it's that much of a fuss, sell your old Steam deck and buy the new one. Because it seems like the story you're telling yourself is you'd have no problem waiting weeks or months for that OLED screen in hindsight. Nothing is stopping you from going without a Steam deck for a bit now to get what you really want...
why is the original steam deck so much less desirable then the new OLED version. there is a slim chance that the new OLED version of steam deck is actually inferior to the older version.
you might say how is that possible? simply because they are now cutting corners to reduce weight and try to balance the power and the heat, where as your original steam deck just needs a fan to help it stay cool, having some what interest in the design of the steam deck, some things you could do yourself to make your original steam deck more adaptable.
but in my honest opinion there is nothing wrong with the original steam deck that some tweaks to the position of the wifi antenna and adding a aggressive heat sink or fan couldn't fix, for the price difference its well worth getting that original steam deck because we just don't have any clue what corners they cut on the new OLED version when they revised it.
