Buy Trading Cards with Steam Points
Or at least be able to buy badges for games with Steam Points.

I doubt your idea will ever become reality. The whole reason of trading cards and badges is making you spend more money.

Remember these "tainted" contents like guides? What about your best marketplace who's going to be closed because virtual points?

Not gonna happen.

Cards have value, Steam Points do not.

Badges are crafted by combining cards, which as previously established have value. Essentially many badges cost money. Since Steam Points have no value, they can't be used to buy badges.

You can buy event badges with them. You can't actually withdraw money you make on the Steam market so steam wallet currency is also a credit currency like steam points. Which means it doesn't have as much value as you think it does.

As I said badges for games. I didn't mention the seasonal badges.

"many badges", see the qualifier many, in this case "game badges that require cards to craft", has a significant meaning.

Event badges would be the other example. Clearly event badges and game badges aren't the same thing since you can't buy game badges with points, no?

Steam points and wallet funds are not equivalent currencies. And quibbling about the value of wallet funds doesn't really change the value of wallet funds compared to steam points.

The lazy and convenient comparisons you're making don't negate the obvious differences that clearly exist. Pretending everything is really the same doesn't actually make them the same. Not being able to buy game badges with points isn't some kind of oversight or mistake on Valve's part, it's deliberate. Why? Because cards and wallet funds have some kind of monetary value. Steam points do not.

That's a great idea <sarcasm>:Hatfall_Frown:

  • Use points to buy untradable and unmarketable cards
  • Craft game badge
  • End up with an untradable and unmarketable emoticon, background, & either an event card or game coupon, because they will inherit ALL restrictions that exists on any card used.
  • File support ticket to see if Steam can remove untradable and unmarketable items gained from crafting badge.
  • Complain in the forums when they won't delete the items.

Can you see why this is not going to work? :Hatfall_Wizard:
