It's definitely one of those things that if Valve wants to they will, and if they don't they won't. They knew they were shutting the store down and not having a replacement plan kinda tells you about the level of interest.
It can't hurt to ask and pursue it if it's something you really want/believe in. But manage your expectations and remember that sometimes, "No", is a complete answer. (And anything other than a "Yes" is effectively a "No".)
Also my feelings and opinions do not matter and aren't going to sway Valve any which way. I'm not opposed to the idea. I'm just skeptical that there's actually interest at Valve at this time, and my skepticism might have decent reasoning, but ultimately it doesn't matter either.

I was had in mind just section in workshop where plp could post builds, T-shirts designs, posters to print.
