As said the user is free to actually read the reviews for themselves but if they have no interest in the drama of the week. Then...
well hiding reviews by default isnt the right way to do it, in its current form the dev's benefit from this alot more then the consumers do, and i don't think a game ruining update is classified as the drama of the week, however if you wish to be pessimistic of the effect hiding reviews can have thats totally on you
No, it's to the consumers' benefit to have review aggregates be relevant and actually reflect what the player base feels about the game.
