Valve has no control over game sizes nor how developers use compression.
This is a suggestion forum to Valve. People can respond explaining why a suggestion is good, bad, or doesn't work.
In the case of this suggestion, Valve does not have control over the size of the game. The size of the game is up to the developer.
Imposing a size limit will just cause the developer to put in a launcher to download the game, which people already do not want.

Again, Steam isn't going to force devs to adhere to a certain size. Steam is very big about letting devs have control over their product. Remember, they are customers as well.
No one here is trolling you. They are telling you that the size of the game isn't decided by Valve/Steam.
That is literally the truth of the situation.
Valve only has power over the size of games developed or published by Valve. They have no control over 3rd party games.
Plus it's normal that over time games get bigger sizes, especially with games becoming more detailed, larger in scope (open world, for example), higher resolutions, etc.
