Background check of the game developers to avoid scam software & fraud games on steam !
Alot of games lately that has only been added to milk the gamers for their hard earned money, with game developers that promess alot but leaves the buyers with basicly nothing than a hope in sometimes a decade without getting it !

The gamers kinda need some sort of security against that, so Valve would need some sort of agreement with the game developers to ensure that they keep what promess to steam´s customers, so if the game developer promess a golden ak-47 in a game that can kill with dragon fire and awesome effects, then the game developer would be forced to deliver that kind of content or give the money back to the players that demands a refound even if the player has been a part of the early access and played the games for many hours or years !

Testers normally cost around 400000 dollars a year and the gamers are abused with their own money by all this early access, so atleast give them a safetynet to allow them to step out of it again without burning their wallets on it, if it turns out that the game is developed to scam people that like that genre !

This will allso make the game developers think twice, before promess anything to the gamers here on Steam !

Early access should be free to play and thous players that take part in that, should be given the games for free as a compensation of not getting any wage for the helping job done when entering a beta version of a game in development !

This will allso prevent game developers from stealing people´s money and then leave the project without finish the game in development first !

I see it alot and that is why I adress this issue :steamdeadpan:

To be fair... the initial state for ea should be defined more strictly.
Pre-alpha is literally early access of course but it's VERY early and in this state it shouldn't be allowed to put it on Steam.
Early access games should have beta state at least.
To fund a game at pre-alpha and alpha state the devs can use a crowdfunding plattform to gather money for further development and when it reach beta state they can bring it to Steam.
But that just my :2coins20cent: ¯\_:smugcatsack:_/¯
That the thing about early access the point of it is to give you early access before product is even done that including alpha, or else can't call it early access to begin with, might as well just call it something else at that point.

When see Early access think of Indie gogo, or kickstarter, they give you key, or private download, you get "Early access", if don't want that kind of early access, and want access when it's not far from being finished product AKA too late to make feedback for critical mass changes without causing a huge U turn without going back to being alpha again, that kind of why it better to call it what it is early access, instead of the state it gonna be at the moment, gives them that wiggle room, and doesn't scare people away because they saw the word alpha, and avoided a game they would've liked, and get mad missing out when prices goes up after the release.

If they start calling it Early Access To Unfinished Game instead of just Early Access Game, it would be a little easier for many to avoid disappointment.
Lol some people still wouldn't read, and complain either way you call it, the fact people that get mad when they buy into a game that flop knew the risks that can happen when there problems to it, or lack of feedback, and customers.

Nah. People still not reading because that is already RIGHT THERE ON THE STORE PAGE.
The DIsappointment comes from people not understandin and honestly, I think there's some self delusion going on as well since.

It's there but that's smaller text and a line further down the page.

Maybe it also need some kind of superimposed warning text in red. And blinking.
Make it red, blinking, and so on, and you may get shock there still be someone ranting in the end somehow.

The box is light blue. You really cannot miss it when looking at the game store page.

Light blue is quite common on the page though.
M'dude. It is a bright blue, Highlighted Box right below the screen shots and before the buy button. It is literally impossible to miss.

The people who can miss that, would complain no matter what it was called..

The issue always comes back to people either not informing themselves by reading what is highlighted right in front of them. Or more likely people ignoring what is plainly written in front of them in favor of whatever fantasy they've imagined in their heads.

This is kinda why the people who complain always talk about things like promises, investtment, supporting. None of them seem to understand that they made ' A purchase of an unfinished game'.

They've written the word "Note" in orange.
It's like a small step towards a blinking red warning.

Why does anything need to blink when this is what an Early Access game store page looks like - https://ibb.co/LnJ02Fm

Yeah but then they would not sell anything on that account, the only reason people buy Early Access games is because they believe on the game project the developer team is working on !

If people know that the game is discontinued in the development process, then nobody will buy them !

and that is what I mean by robbing people off their money !

I mean you dont Order a brand new Ferrari and then only get the carbody and some wheels, but parts of the engine is missing and the luxery you where promessed is allso in "development" so you need to wait for it and may or maybe not your parts might be developed, so you can drive the car you where ordering? :steamlaughcry:

Get my point ?

FOr some maybe. Sopme people don't read. before they buy.
I'd like to think most people understand what they're buying.

How about background check when a user tries to buy an EA title to ensure the UNDERSTAND what the warning on every EA product page is telling them???? Better yet give the purchase a 7 day cooldown with constant reminders and only allow the transaction to complete after 7 full days has past.

Then if anyone that purchases an EQ title comes to the forum complaining because they couldn't grasp or accept the EA warnings they get banned from purchasing EA title for 6 months, hen 1 year and then for life....account specific, obviously.

Plenty of projects stall for years, then get picked up again, sometimes changing. Even then they may or may not change. I'm still hoping for Vampire: The Masquerade® - Bloodlines™ 2 and that wasn't an EA title and at this point I'm not holding my breath. Just using it as an example

You just said it yourself .. "intent" ... By early access you get people into believe that it will 100% be a finished project and will be continued in its development for future generations and so on ..

I mean you try buy a car, if you buy a luxery car, lets say a brand new lamborghini .. then you need to wait for it to be build first !

lets say the company only send you the wheels and a steering, but you payed for the whole car .. wouldnt you be pissed off and sue the company if their dont send the rest of your car ?

I sure would ! :steamlaughcry:

I just have a problem with devs that promise 6-12 months of development that turns into 6-12 years. This should not be legal. Release unfinished and take your negative reviews or be booted out of Steam and the game industry forever!

It is not legal & you can sue them at this page for it -> https://wilshirelawfirm.com/blog/california-employment-law/can-you-sue-a-company-for-false-advertising/

Unfortunately, some companies go to extreme lengths to maximize sales, putting profits over people. Instead of investing in creating a better product or offering a superior service, they’d rather mislead people about its features or even trick people into buying it.

This type of unethical advertising can result in millions of dollars stolen from consumers.

Depending on the product or service, it can even put lives at risk, something some companys is willing to take, just to gain profit.

So that is why i think we need to make a statement, so we avoid being abused as costumers !

Sure its legal, your told the game might never change. They have the intent to finish it, but your warned things can happen and it might never finish or change. So it would not remotely meet the threshold of false advertising.

Hence why if your not comfortable with the risk you shouldn't buy EA titles. If your buying them hoping for a different product then what you bought then you've failed to read and have no one to blame but yourself.

I mean you try buy a car, if you buy a luxery car, lets say a brand new lamborghini .. then you need to wait for it to be build first !

But you can pre-order some products like cars before they've been fully manufacturer/made just like you can with games that may or may not be in Early Access

Postat inițial de M-A-X-E ™:

I sure would ! :steamlaughcry:

Because you'd be buying a complete car not just a component and if you were sold just the wheels you'd see that in the legal document. and not be paying 300-2,000 just for the wheel.

Compared to games the car example would be spending 2% and getting the wheels and still be expected to pay the other 98% at a later time. When buying EA you are paying for the complete product as is, that may or may not change. You are not paying 1-2.00 and expecting to get the 100% full and complete product

Manipulating key terms, Deceptive visual representation of the product, Bait and switch, Incomplete or false comparisons, Misleading product warranties or guarantees, Selling a product that doesn’t actually do what it’s marketed to do, Leaving out information that the average buyer would consider important to know, Exaggerating the size of a product to make it look bigger, Advertising a product for one price and actually selling it for a higher price, Claiming sales prices without actually marking down products, Advertising a warranty for a product but refusing to honor it, Marketing a product with a no-hassle money-back guarantee and then refusing to honor it ..

All against the law on a global level !
Unexpected 27 mart. 2023 la 13:03
you are given a warning that early access games are not yet complete and there is a risk involved in buying them, i think that voids any right to complain

Manipulating key terms,
Nope, its spelled out very clearly

Postat inițial de M-A-X-E ™:
Deceptive visual representation of the product,
Nope, showing a work in progress is not deceptive

Postat inițial de M-A-X-E ™:
Bait and switch, Incomplete or false comparisons,
Nope because again, in plain english your told what you are getting

Postat inițial de M-A-X-E ™:
Misleading product warranties or guarantees
Nope, steams warranty and refunds are clear, as is the fact that you have NO Guarantee the product will ever be completed

Postat inițial de M-A-X-E ™:
, Selling a product that doesn’t actually do what it’s marketed to do,
Nope you were sold a product as is, and you expected it to change despite being told it might never change

And on and on, your throwing out a lot of buzz words with absolutely no clue what they mean. You made a choice to buy an unfinished product that was still in development and were told that the product might never be completed. You were given the standard refund and warranty for all products sold.

All of that is legal, its like if you bought a stock and then tried to sue because you lost money on it.... You got a copy of the game as is, then you weren't happy because it didn't change the way you wanted.

You have absolutely no legal case or else you'd be suing valve and raking in millions of dollars..... If you had the tiniest shred of a legal case a lawyer would jump at the chance to represent you on commission.

Instead you just bought an EA title, refused to read the warnings and then complained when what you were warned about happened.
