Different pricing feature for Mac OS and Windows users.
Hello, everybody. As an Apple user, I want to play the hype and not the hype games that fill the internet. Yes, there are ways to play. But the truth is, I want to pay the money, press one button and have, for example, Skyrim. I do not mind investing more money than Windows computer users. Ios users already pay more for apps and PlayStation users for games.

I became to learn product management recently, and now really interested in why Steam or other platforms do not make different pricing feature for Mac OS and Windows users. Are there any problems?

Steam can get more money from sales. Game creators have to work harder with games for macs, but they can sell those same games at a higher cost. And I'll get my favourite games and will be less concerned about the gaming industry passing by.

You want Mac users to pay more? Am I reading this right?

Yes???

And I’m just ….. why would anyone want this? The Apple Tax is supposed to be a euphemism not an actual thing. I’d like to clarify that Apple did not invent making over engineered over priced things. Sony and Bose have been doing that since the 80s and no one ever called that the “Sony Tax”

I think Apple is just more "in your face" about it and they do even shadier things on top of it.

That said, when people say Mac users want to pay more, they're usually kidding.

Dev/Pubs can already do this.
But really I think it just boils down to easier book meeping.
A sale, is a sale, is a sale.

Of course, I want to get things for lower prices, I am a simple customer. But the problem is, that I can not get most of the games for my Mac OS. So, It is better to get this version of a game and maybe pay more for the inconveniences than to get nothing. Is not it?

I am sure that PlayStation users would like to pay for their games not much as well, but they pay for them.

If the game doesn't work on MacOS, you'd be paying more for absolutely nothing anyway,

And that is up to developers to choose whether they want to leave the same prices or make them somewhat higher, but at least make this game optimized for MAC, because otherwise they will not make anything for Mac Os.

Not all of them are gonna wanna deal with Apple's antics. Making games work on Mac is not an easy task and Apple's antics are not helping.

Oh, did not know about this. Why I do not see that in Steam then? Why developers do not use that? Could you send me an example? What does it mean to "book meeping"?

The reason why many games don't work for Mac OS isn't the price, its that the demand for it isn't there.

Max OS is only around 2.3% of Steam's users. A $60 game would need to sell at like $3000 to equal the same potential profit. Hence why even if a game was more money, when your only dealing with 2.3% of steam's users its simply not worth it for most developers.

So your only options are to live with it, or switch to a OS that is more supporting of gaming

You have no market share. No one is going to go to the effort of porting for 2%. You could pay 2x the price and no one will care.

...and thats before we get to the fact that it is Apple.

Imagine being a developer, you finally get your game fully functional on Mac.

And then Apple steps in and kills 32 bit support, putting you back at square one. Would you really wanna go through that effort again when Apple has already shown how little they care about the effort you put in?

Yes, for sure. I do not know the nuances of adaptation. But what I know is that some of the game developers made it. That means that it is possible. But others do not have enough motivation for that, most probably because they think that it does not worth it.

As for apple, I do not know why they do not make any of the steps towards the gaming industry.

I have another personal computer with Windows for games, but I really would like to play some games on my MAC as well
