After the sale, there seems to be some unresolved server errors, temporary unexpected communication failures but they appear to be decreasing tonight.
There's a very small possibility if it was in your cart, that they might make an exception as a response to the Support ticket, though chances are if they said no already from the portion you mentioned if not an automated reply, is simply the end of the matter.
Customer service basically said they couldn't do anything about it. I attempted to buy it the morning the sale was going off around 0700 EST.
We warn people about this every year, usually every sale too.
You may find other services are also much more strict in regard to some things.
But you're free to shop where you wish.

Razer came out with their own Deck a while ago,
it was made with gaming in mind, & it also supported
custom grips, too
Although?
I don't know how old it is, I just know it was made
with gaming in mind, & it is a lot like the nintendo
switch & the steam deck.
Today Razer made one with a phone, but their
older one is with joy cons like the switch I think.
It also runs steam, just like the steam deck.
And Razer still makes great products, too.

STEAM has always had bandwith problems during sales, and I mean always.
While I can understand a certain level of issues during a time when user activity is high, the level here is nothing short of incompetence, especially for a billion dollar company.
STEAM has never been known for its customer service.
I have also moved on and no longer buy STEAM games. Between the other platforms and my PS5 I can get any game I'm interested in.
I myself don't my games on Steam anymore but i did wish many of games that are exclusively on Steam being available elsewhere. Like EGS & Microsoft Store.
Ah yes an 1100 dollar chinese knockoff, the gpd win which is objectively worse than the Deck in every metric ESPECIALLY the price metric and another chinese mass pro knock off. Yeah you certainly know how to proactively search out alternatives
