Garbage company and customer service.
Does anyone have any suggestions on something similar to the steam deck? I tried to buy it multiple times while it was on sale and kept getting a error saying to try again. I contacted customer service and they were useless and said it's now off sale and they couldn't help me. It does no good to file complaints with them because they just blow you off. This is literally the worst company I've dealt with.

Might want to try a laptop. Although if Steam is so bad, you might want to try somewhere else, like Epic or GOG. Personally speaking, if I have horrid experiences with a company, I stop wasting my time and money with them.

I do have a gaming PC and have not had a issue with steam until this week. I'm really considering just doing away with steam all together. Sadly I'm getting errors on every other page so obviously I couldn't go through with the check out since it reverts me back to the start while attempting to check out. I've even sent pictures of the errors and they don't even acknowledge it.

If you waited until the end of the sale, there can be an extreme volume of users & information, which often will result in errors. The primary question is how close to the end of the sale you were attempting. Unfortunately, they cannot reserve the 10% off and it's first-come, first-serve which would go through without issues during a majority of the sale, not so much the very beginning or the very end of the sale.

After the sale, there seems to be some unresolved server errors, temporary unexpected communication failures but they appear to be decreasing tonight.

There's a very small possibility if it was in your cart, that they might make an exception as a response to the Support ticket, though chances are if they said no already from the portion you mentioned if not an automated reply, is simply the end of the matter.

It was in my cart and still is. I actually cant remove it now
Customer service basically said they couldn't do anything about it. I attempted to buy it the morning the sale was going off around 0700 EST.

Yeah, never do it at the very beginning or the very end, there's too much traffic that communication cannot be guaranteed.

We warn people about this every year, usually every sale too.

Thanks for the tip but I think I'm going to move on from steam and take my business to a better company. My personal issues plus all the negative things on the forums is making me think steam has made so much money that they now don't care about the customer base they built.

If the customer base leaves I'm certain that they might notice. You don't have to buy anything and steam will still maintain your account. You can leave your options open while you also explore other platforms and nobody would have a problem with that, not even Valve. Good luck on your adventure.

Well, many sales at many places have the same issue for traffic and errors the last few minutes or beginning hour of a sale. Once a sale is over especially if someone waited to the end to attempt making the purchase they can't guarantee the discount. If they do, it's strictly a courtesy.

You may find other services are also much more strict in regard to some things.

But you're free to shop where you wish.

Razer came out with their own Deck a while ago,
it was made with gaming in mind, & it also supported
custom grips, too

Although?

I don't know how old it is, I just know it was made
with gaming in mind, & it is a lot like the nintendo
switch & the steam deck.

Today Razer made one with a phone, but their
older one is with joy cons like the switch I think.
It also runs steam, just like the steam deck.

And Razer still makes great products, too.

STEAM has always had bandwith problems during sales, and I mean always.

While I can understand a certain level of issues during a time when user activity is high, the level here is nothing short of incompetence, especially for a billion dollar company.

STEAM has never been known for its customer service.

I have also moved on and no longer buy STEAM games. Between the other platforms and my PS5 I can get any game I'm interested in.

Valve is a garbage company. That's for sure. If are looking for alternative to SD there Aya Neo, GPD Win & One X Player. Although they are very expensive than SD. You will supporting the competition and making them grow. They constantly release new hardware.

I myself don't my games on Steam anymore but i did wish many of games that are exclusively on Steam being available elsewhere. Like EGS & Microsoft Store.

Ah yes an 1100 dollar chinese knockoff, the gpd win which is objectively worse than the Deck in every metric ESPECIALLY the price metric and another chinese mass pro knock off. Yeah you certainly know how to proactively search out alternatives :lunar2019crylaughingpig:
Sleepy Yoshi Mar 26, 2023 @ 8:06am
The price to value ratio of the Deck has no current competition. If you're dead set on getting a handheld though and absolutely are certain Deck is out of the question, Ayaneo does have some quality products, but again the price is significantly higher. But the notion it's a Chinese knock off, is pure ignorance.
