The "Who is playing" screen shows unused or wrong accounts.
Some users have complained that when they try to login to steam they see the unused or wrong accounts suggested in the "Who's playing" dialog and they constantly have to add the account(s) they usually use and then have to look up their emails to find the Steamguard code.

When asked, the Steam Support staff usually responds that this is linked to cookies not being allowed in various web browsers and go on to explain how to allow cookies. However, this response is both inadequate and wrong. The issue is linked to a file that caches accounts used that fails to retain correct information. The solution given by Steam user VyLet to this issue is as follows:

1. Close the Steam client.
2. Find C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config and search for loginusers.vdf file.
3. Delete the loginusers.vdf file.
4. Log into your Steam account and enter the Steamguard code.
5. Click "Change Account" from your profile on the top right corner.
6. Use the + icon to add another account and log in. You will have to enter a Steamguard code for each account you add.

Now whenever you switch accounts, you will see the accounts you have logged in with. If you use the log out option you have to type ID, pass and Steamguard code again.

Please share this with the support team.

All accounts used on the PC show up there. That isn't a bug.

On my PC it showed two accounts I have not used in ages but failed to retain the two accounts I regularly use. This despite that I always log in with the option to Remember me.
True, it might not be a bug but the suggestion I'm making is to make support staff aware so they can advice users seeking help with correct information and not go off topic talking about browser cookies.

Ahh, I should have posted the steps as a post and spread them. Thanks for doing the deed instead! Hopefully this will help people in need.

I'm also pretty sure this is an intended feature to remember who logged in previously. However, it'd be really neat to be able to remove account you don't want from the UI section. Or to filter accounts that haven't logged in the device for years.

Just to credit the original Reddit post I found the steps to fix the issue: link
