Remove "Jester" award
It's not that the idea was bad, but the practice and how it's used completely goes against the idea of it being an award for funny posts people find humorous.
Instead it has become an award people add onto other people whose opinion they disagree with (kind of like the nerd emoji emote on discord or a glorified dislike button)
The real biggest issue with this usage doesn't come from the use of it being a dislike or w/e however it's that the award gives points.

Points being used for things you can add to your profile or level yourself up.
Because of this the jester emote has become used in such a way that people intentionally post bait and terrible takes just to gain jester awards for their profile. Causing a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of terrible low quality and anoying posts that now have an incentive to exist by the award/point system.

I love jesters.

Seriously thought, it's free points.
In German, this award is called "Narr", which means fool.

I don't care about it myself but I stopped giving away Jester awards.

It's always negative. Look at negative reviews for popular games to see that. People use it as an insult and they always have. It doesn't matter what Valve intended for it, it's been openly accepted by the community as an insult and is constantly used as one. The fact that there's almost daily threads posted about it, or even more annoyingly, blatantly baiting posts that are meant to trigger internet trolls, are constantly used to farm awards from people who use it as an insult.

Nope. That is your viewpoint and i clearly explained mine in post #10 although you only chose to quote a certain part.

FREE POINTS. Thank you.

Jester - "A valued member of the King's Court" plus free points.
The jester symbol does not look like any "valued member". The steam award looks like a clown.

Messaggio originale di Nx Machina:
Secondly you cannot "know" the intent of the person giving the award instead you "assume" it is negative, malicious etc.

(INTENT: Something that is intended) - "No one is a mindreader to know the giver's intent".
Which intent could exist when someone gets titled as a clown in a discussion? The intent is always derogatory.

Your failure of imagination is surprising — people sometimes make jokes during discussions.

A Jester was a "valued" member of the Kings Court.

You need it to be derogatory and you cannot prove intent, you always assume intent without proof.

The irony of this thread is those who do not affirm the narrative of the thread have being given a Jester award.

What you fail to understand here is that no one has to prove anything. If you see a guy looking at a girl's butt in the street you know what they're thinking, no proof is needed lmao:lunar2019crylaughingpig:

But you have to prove a Jester award was given to be "negative", yet that proof relies on the giver stating why they gave it.

As for real world comparisons it does not work as that would be a "positive."

A jester is not considered as a high valued member nowadays. We don't have a kings courts anymore.

You need to concentrate on the facts. What are we talking about? An award that looks like a clown. Every elementary school student can assume the intent when someone is being titled with that not so neat looking clown face.

Furthermore, being titled as a clown is considered insulting in almost any society. The intent is to mock or insult someone.

No, no one has to prove anything because various things in life are just plain obvious.

If someone tells you that they've reported you accidentally... do you need proof it's a scam?

Nobody's being titled as a clown. They are awarded a cute clown face and free points.

To show a polite gesture of respect. Receiving a clown on one's post is a true honor. Don't tell me you didn't know that?! :steamfacepalm: Y'know that clowns are highly respected members in our society, especially in discussions?! /s

It's not an award, it's an insult. It also looks rather cringe.

That's rather curious, don't you think? Valve could have made the icon look like an actual jester, but instead... made it look like a clown.

It doesn't take a genius to realize their intent.
