allow users to remove followers
how many steam users would like to have this changed?

this is a question that has been asked for before by people, so why can we not remove or at very least be able to see who is following us? at the moment we can see someone is following us, but not who it is that is following us. there should be an option to allow users to remove or see who these people are that follow us on steam. i find it very strange that it is set up the way it is now and some people find it quite creepy that it is like this, never knowing who they are. why would steam do it like this anyway?

We should also be able to see who is following us and remove and block them individually if people want to do that. But I just want the ability to turn it off, not allow people to follow in the first place. And when we turn it off, it removes all the followers.

I thought it was a dumb "feature" to start with, specially with zero control over it.

ability to disable would be choice.

You get that once you use more features.
This just raises more questions. You get what when you use what features?

People can follow you regardles of Steam having that feature. It would make no difference, because people can simply write a script for that.
Exactly, it's a non problem imo.

However, I don't see a problem with people having the option to turnoff the feature and remove those who is following them.

If you post something on the internet, people can follow it. Simply because it's on the internet. Steam just makes that a little bit easier for people to do, but they would be able to do it regardless of Steam giving them that feature.

Yes but at least they wouldn't get alerts and stuff when you do post something new like a guide or art or screenshot or what ever else it alerts people to. They would have to check it manually, making it that much more annoying for those who want to follow people who don't want followers.

not to mention there are those you might not want following you. (aka stalkers, trolls, haters, etc...)

yes people can follow (stalk) you with out having this steam feature regardless, which is why i mainly focused on being able to "see" who is following us and remove them if they are someone who is a known problem for that person.

would an admin or moderator delete this thread please. no reason to keep a pointless thread that will never get considered or looked at.

Seems I have gained a few more followers.

I would like to be able to see who they are and decide if I want them following me as well.

You know, announcing you don't want followers is a guaranteed way for people to follow you just to mess with you. Or this is just another reverse psychology post like all the jester farms because you want people to follow you. There's no scenario where this works at face value and the outcome is good

yet if people could remove or not have anyone follow them at all then there would be no need for you to pull straws out of a hat with your thinking. i admit i do not know how many users are on steam on regular basis, nor do i know how many even actually care about this subject, but for sure i have not been the only one over the years to ask about this.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I don't write guides or have followers), but doesn't having followers have no effect on the person being followed at all?

It has zero effect on the person they follow, if your not friends then your only knowing if they recommend a game or update any mods that you are subbed and following.

For example I am following a user for his Stellaris mods and know when he updates them so I to can update my games but anything else he does I'm not told of, unless I'm directly friends with that user then it would be like following a developer at best
