Option to remove steam points from individual users [No longer on topic, tried to discuss about the topic and got derailed completely]
I have noticed that I got an unrealistic amount of Steam points from possibly one user alone, the only best guess as to why they're doing that is that they are giving me the Jester community award to annoy me. Since it is working for all the wrong reasons, Valve should very much give users the ability to delete their own steam points that were given by user(s) that give community awards for the sole purpose to annoy other users to the point of actually ticking them off, and if possible to block users of their choice to prevent them from getting points and community awards from disrespectful users with the consequence of the community award abusers getting rewarded with only the loss of their own steam points.

Valve. Please listen because this is apparently something that should've came with the release of steam points, not an "feature mot included" type of thing.

Or... you could just laugh at them as they waste a bunch of points on you and not care about what the awards.

I got a bunch of jester awards and you know what I think... man those people are crazy for wasting their points on my, but what ever, more free stuff for myself.
Pay it forward. Return their insult by using those points to reward someone who was helpful.

:steamfacepalm: Yeah, I'd still be posting comments along the lines of "please stop", "you're making me feel unsafe", "stop attacking me" on their profile if I did that... I don't want this to get off topic please.
They're not suggesting you try to receive more awards/points. Just take the points that you already have that you don't want and give those to others who did something helpful through the award system.

Yeah, I'm not using mine because I don't deserve them for someone else's legit punishment because that really doesn't make it right, me however, I feel like that I'm being attacked by that steam user even though I very much asked him to stop and he kept going, proving my point further that we need an feature like I stated. No one deserves an disrespectful person's praise because it wasn't earned nor willingly worked for.

Its only disrespect if you consider it that. Again been given lots of jesters and I just laugh at the people that do that not because they thought my post was funny but because they were trying to use it as an insult.

Don't want to use the points on someone else then go make a second account that you will never use for anything and just give all the points you don't feel worthy of to it.

Personally I think you should be able to turn off getting awards, BUT if you do, you shouldn't be able to give them either.

I don't know if they have done this or not, but if its not they could make it so that people who you block, can't give awards to you and can't receive awards from you either. But I would still sooner have it so that they are either fully off or on depending on your settings.

Also your idea is only half your problem... they would still be giving you the award that you don't feel like you earned and would be back here complaining about it....

So again it should just be that you turn accepting and giving awards off for everyone or no one.
I would say that if you block someone, that should prevent them from giving you any rewards. Just seems like common sense.

But I will reiterate that the best way to defeat something negative is to turn it into a positive and give those points to the friendly and helpful members of the community.

Yeah, I tried blocking the user, still kept getting awards from them.
Oh, yeah. I meant that as the suggestion. It probably would be the simplest thing to do.
Just take the free points. The award only means something negative if you assign it something negative. Just think 'thanks, free points' and move on. I've been jestered plenty and not once have I taken it as a insult or viewed it negatively.

Do the same in real life. Had plenty of people compliment my hair, I can tell the Sarcastic ones in which I smile and say thanks before going about my business. Funny thing is when you show you're not offended it annoys them, not you, because they do it to annoy you.
You did it to yourself really. You made a huge fuss out of it in public instead of just ignoring them. You showed them they could get under your skin by doing this.

The ones that were giving me the jester, don't bother with it as much because they know it doesn't bother me and I will just use the point for something.

You need to care less about what you think their intentions are and not make a fuss where they can read about it.

Also if you have evidence that its the same person "harassing" you with the jesters and following you around on the forums giving them to you (like them actually saying it somewhere on the forums) then you should report them for harassment.

If you don't, then I would just stop getting upset about it in public and ignore it. Seriously, I couldn't even tell you the last thing I got an award on. Because I care so little about them.

I wish they wouldn't have made the awards in the first place because its caused a whole lot of complaining from people who see them for more than what they are and begging and stupid meme posts/reviews/everything else to get them.

Again use the points for something good. Use them to reward useful reviews, useful posts, art and screenshots you like and so on.

You saying it makes you upset when they do that will just get them doing it more. And when others see you getting upset they will jump on the bandwagon so you don't even know for sure if its the same person over and over again.

Anyways.. like I said Valve, I got community points for trying to tell an user to stop and they gave me 20+k points just to ignore what I asked them to do... now I'm apparently being forced to have that happen YET. AGAIN. against my will. so again.. please add these features that I have suggested... I'm sick of getting community points from people that I have asked to knock it off with being disrespectful.
Dude. People are giving you Jesters because you are loudly advertising how riled up it gets you. You are giving them EXACTLY what they want. If you stop hemming and hawing about how much it bothers you, they'll have no reason to do it.

Also, getting points is an objective gain, even if you don't plan to use points. Why would you want to discard the positive aspect of receiving awards while embracing and obsessing over the negative aspect? The solution to your problem is to do the exact opposite: Forget about the implied insult and enjoy the free points. Valve can't and won't implement what you ask. The only person who can fix this for you is YOU.

I agree with this.

I won't be contributing to this part of the thread because it's not the topic.

But it is

Last I checked, I asked to stop being given fake points and people kept going like I'm some 5 year old who has an serious issue with reading stuff... oh wait. I'm not because I find it disrespectful for someone to ignore you and continue to be an jerk and still prove that they don't really care about what happens to the normal people.

And you're the one giving them ammunition by creating this thread to complain about it. Make it clear you'll suck up their points without getting upset, annoyed or something. If you don't show them you assigning negativity to an award and then fixating on it the trolls doing it to get a reaction wouldn't because the reaction is exactly what they want and you keep biting the bait and thrashing about

They're giving you free points and a cute clown face. You are CHOOSING to see it as "being a jerk". You are CHOOSING to give trolls exactly what they want. You are CHOOSING to stress out about unwanted points rather than seeing them as a bonus. Steam can't fix any of that. The solution needs to come from YOU.

I've got over 200 Jesters, and they are badges of honor. They represent people who were unable to counter the points I was making that riled them up. They are impotent attempts to upset me. They wanted to insult me but they failed, and I was happy for the points I received. This isn't a UI problem that can be fixed by adding functionality. This is a problem of perception, and you have the power to choose how you see things.

I requested an mod to lock this thread and someone false reported my request because they're probably a steam user that thinks keeping this thread unlocked would prove that I'm an idiot... well congrats on proving yourself as one because it was a valid request
