Keep an older version of Steam running on Windows 7.
I suggest Steam to keep one version of Steam for Windows 7 too.

I'm not changing to cancer like Windows 10. Its a privacy disaster. I don't want to accept the Windows 10 agreement.

Choices?

Create ISO files of your desired CDs/DVDs via Nero, CDBurnerXP or Burnaware, or software which are specialized to "CloneCD" or ImgBurn.. as Windows 10 and 11 can easily mount ISO/Images.. and you are good to go.

CDs and DVDs are obsolete long time ago already.. so ISO/Images are your go!

In Windows 10/11 simply right-click an iso file and select "mount image".., later "eject" ..

Is ImgBurn really outdated or is it just pretty much feature complete?
Also, for disc images, there is Virtual CloneDrive, at https://www.elby.ch/en/products/vcd.html which I use on Windows 11 just to have a persistent drive letter.

Switch now or switch later.

You WILL stop using win7 at some point.
no i wont
if you love win 7 you should find some old windows phone who still have win 7 mobile on it
You know all of you saying upgrade. You do know that is not always an option, right? Not everyone has the money to do so. It's not always because of we're diehard Win7 users. It has to do with money for some of us. I would love to upgrade to Win10, but for me it requires building a new PC. So for me upgrading to Win10 right now is out of reach.

Windows 10 Pro can be gotten for the cost of 1 or 2 AAA games. and you'be literally had a year to save that up.Maybe buy a couple less games hmmm?

Considering the spec requirements for 7 and 10 are the SAME. I find this hard to believe.
BUt you know what.. there's always Linux

"Why would I want Linux when it doesn't run windows programs natively. You need Wine first of all and even then Wine doesn't run everything.

I will upgrade to Win10 when I have the money to upgrade my computer, which BTW is 14 years old as it was custom built in 2009 and has been upgraded over the years to the max specs this motherboard can handle.

No you can't, not legally, anyone selling it that cheap is selling stolen keys.

By the way you don't know my financial situation so don't assume that I had the extra money to save up over the last 3 years since Microsoft ended support.

I'm running a 14 year old computer. Yes it may accept Win10. But its a stop gap measure. I will still need to build a new computer and that costs money. It makes more sense to build a new computer when I have the money and put Win10 on it than to upgrade an outdated computer.

what software do you have that both supports windows 7 and doesn't run in Wine? Steam also has great compatibility tools (Proton being the big one, basically their own version of Wine) specifically for people who can't or don't want to run Windows 10/11 on their hardware. You can lead a horse to water...

Note he said AAA games. Two AAA games with premium bundles could easily add up to more than the MSRP of a Windows Pro license.

Oh, I misread what he said. For some reason I was seeing AAA batteries.

I have no clue on what Wine does and does not run. I only know what I've read and it says Wine does not run everything.

I'm done with this topic. Its obvious you all seem to think money grows on trees or people want to switch to Linux. I personally don't want to switch to Linux. So when I can afford to build a new computer, then I will upgrade to Win10. I don't see the point of putting it on a 14 year old computer that will need to be replaced as soon as I can get the money to do so anyways.

There is no honest legit reason to still be using Windows 7, unless your computer is so old it belongs in a museum.

I'd be more concerned running a operating system that is no longer supported by MS as well as the security vulnerabilities for using such.

"I want to" is already a legit reason.

It's fine if people want to keep running an outdated OS. Doesn't mean the rest of the world has to accommodate it, though.
Amaroq 4 ENE 2024 a las 0:57
People running an outdated OS don't want the rest of the world to accommodate them. They have already accepted that they're running an outdated OS.

They just want people/corporations/shills to stop manipulating them and gaslighting them into changing their OS based on someone's suspiciously thinly veiled vested ideological or financial interest in it.

How much money does Valve make? They could easily unhook Chrome from Steam and not take part in this borderline conspiracy to manipulate people into using Windows 10.
