You don't need an ID for a prepaid card which Steam allows.
Not that it would affect you anyway. It wouldnt.
Steam cannot be 100% sure that it is actually *you* using your account - if you left it logged in and someone under that age was at your computer using it, or if you gave your account to someone else, it would be a breach of the age restrictions making Steam / valve liable.
That's why they need to ask every time.
Parents are responsible for that.
Btw, thats very bad example cause a child can simply click the 1jan19xx birthdate and they would still be held accountable.
A drivers license is indeed a valid form of ID for the entirety of the United States and accepted anywhere an ID is required. Its the most common form of ID in the US.
Also browsing content doesn't require you to pay, again your completely ignoring the very common scenario of an account being "validated" THEN SOMEONE ELSE using it to access adult content....
prepaid cards are not paysafe cards..... You can walk into gamestop and buy a pre-paid card and load it to your account, so you seem unaware of how steam operates...
Again not to mention that accessing adult content doesn't require anything to do with payments....
Yep, as previously said the age gate is designed to protect STEAM, not the users. It prevents the parents from being able to sue as in order to get access the kid had to have lied. Age gates aren't for security, its for liability.

What you're talking about are simple steam gift cards. Regardless, Why dont you understand I want a opt in feature so I dont get bothered?
I dont care about you, your way of living. I care about MY way of living. I dont have kids. I dont have others using my PC and I dont share my steam account with anyone else. Havnt done that since ever I made this steam account in 2006.
And fyi, if you just use steam gift cards to add money to your wallet, you're wasting your time when you can litterally buy them through the online client itself.
Why dont you stop posting if you're so unhappy and let this topic die?
Steam is not responsible if someone lies about their birthday to bypass an age gate. That's why they have an age gate.

Welcome to the world, businesses aren't customized around you, steam has to operate in a way that is compliant for everyone.
Not really, lots of reasons to use steam gift cards. For instance I sign up for Gamestop rewards for $20 a year. I get a $5 off coupon every month that I use to purchase a $10 gift card for $5 and load into my account, saves me $40 a year JUST in the rewards, let alone the extra benefits I get from the pro account.
Or people give me them for presents for my birthday, or I redeem them from freebie sites that I use.
No they couldn't. Considering my 'standard' is what is legally required.
