It's 2023 and steam keeps asking for my age.
Please add implentation that saves my settings. I am well beyond 18 years old. I have my steam account for 16 years, so at a minimum I would be 28 as you have to be 13 years old to create an account.

I should not need to post my birthdate every single time (1986) on my own personal computer(s).

It annoys me to see that CP 2077 for instance (Which I own) still have this popup come. This is just an example. There's more games I play that have this issue. You dont need to protect me from anything.

Offer me a smooth experience and allow me to toggle this off.

If its valid how do you know its me? Heck, even if it IS me and my account is validated how do you know its not my kid using the account while I'm at work? Hence why its per browsing session. Once the browsing session ends they can't assume the person is the same person in the previous browsing session, hence why they re-ask.
Why are you using a drivers license? Thats not an ID.

They have various means to know its you based on your payment info.

You don't need an ID for a prepaid card which Steam allows.

What adult will use a paysafecard for steam?

Not that it would affect you anyway. It wouldnt.

Steam cannot be 100% sure that it is actually *you* using your account - if you left it logged in and someone under that age was at your computer using it, or if you gave your account to someone else, it would be a breach of the age restrictions making Steam / valve liable.
That's why they need to ask every time.

Not at all.

Parents are responsible for that.

Btw, thats very bad example cause a child can simply click the 1jan19xx birthdate and they would still be held accountable.

A drivers license is indeed a valid form of ID for the entirety of the United States and accepted anywhere an ID is required. Its the most common form of ID in the US.

Also browsing content doesn't require you to pay, again your completely ignoring the very common scenario of an account being "validated" THEN SOMEONE ELSE using it to access adult content....

prepaid cards are not paysafe cards..... You can walk into gamestop and buy a pre-paid card and load it to your account, so you seem unaware of how steam operates...

Again not to mention that accessing adult content doesn't require anything to do with payments....

Yep, as previously said the age gate is designed to protect STEAM, not the users. It prevents the parents from being able to sue as in order to get access the kid had to have lied. Age gates aren't for security, its for liability.

https://theplusaddons.com/blog/age-verification-for-elementor/

An age verification popup requires visitors to enter their birth date in order to access the contents of the website. Similarly, an age gate restriction ensures that visitors are unable to access the website if they are below a certain age.

This protects you from liability and ensures that you comply with legal requirements.

Paysafecards are 100% prepaid cards.

What you're talking about are simple steam gift cards. Regardless, Why dont you understand I want a opt in feature so I dont get bothered?

I dont care about you, your way of living. I care about MY way of living. I dont have kids. I dont have others using my PC and I dont share my steam account with anyone else. Havnt done that since ever I made this steam account in 2006.

And fyi, if you just use steam gift cards to add money to your wallet, you're wasting your time when you can litterally buy them through the online client itself.

Your way of living is irrelevant.

So is yours, because the solution is quite simple and you streight are lieing about something that wouldnt even affect anyone else but people who might want to opt in to not get this nuisance.

Why dont you stop posting if you're so unhappy and let this topic die?

Steam is not responsible if someone lies about their birthday to bypass an age gate. That's why they have an age gate.
Let's just get to the answer of this, which someone likely already brought up:

Q: Why do you KEEP asking my damn age throughout the store?

A: We're with you on this. Unfortunately, many rating agencies have rules that stipulate that we cannot save your age for longer than a single browsing session. It's frustrating, but know we're filling out those age gates too.

Because legal requirements prevent them from saving it for more then 1 browsing session. Does it ♥♥♥♥? Sure, but lots of laws are stupid because we live in a sue happy world.

Welcome to the world, businesses aren't customized around you, steam has to operate in a way that is compliant for everyone.

Not really, lots of reasons to use steam gift cards. For instance I sign up for Gamestop rewards for $20 a year. I get a $5 off coupon every month that I use to purchase a $10 gift card for $5 and load into my account, saves me $40 a year JUST in the rewards, let alone the extra benefits I get from the pro account.

Or people give me them for presents for my birthday, or I redeem them from freebie sites that I use.

Nope, because they still could be held accountable by your standards.

No they couldn't. Considering my 'standard' is what is legally required.

I just realized now (after reading this thread) that I never get the age verification window in the browser (Chrome). I even forgot about the existence of this window. I use the client exclusively for running games, and for everything else (store, forum, activity, etc.) I use the browser. Now I even checked: yes, a window with age confirmation is shown in the client and on the smartphone (in the browser), but this window is not on the PC in Chrome. This is weird. I don't use any special extensions.
