It's 2023 and steam keeps asking for my age.
Please add implentation that saves my settings. I am well beyond 18 years old. I have my steam account for 16 years, so at a minimum I would be 28 as you have to be 13 years old to create an account.

I should not need to post my birthdate every single time (1986) on my own personal computer(s).

It annoys me to see that CP 2077 for instance (Which I own) still have this popup come. This is just an example. There's more games I play that have this issue. You dont need to protect me from anything.

Offer me a smooth experience and allow me to toggle this off.

Okay...

https://www.privacypolicies.com/blog/privacy-law-by-country/

Enjoy. Even the most strict countrys such as switserland and iceland do so.

What's funny is Valve already does this. The prompt is for any new browser session which means the previous cookies that stored your answer are now invalid and can't be used.
Its clear that you cant handle the definition of consent.

It applies everywhere, not just gaming platforms.

So how come legislated companys like poker sites, only ask my age once?

Steam can bypass these 'rating agencys' simply by allowing us to get age verified.

Different types of sites, different rules. poker sites aren't a store for instance. The reason age verified won't work is the same reason they keep askign for age. You can't know if the person using the account is actually 18 or not...

Hence why its per browsing session.
Not really.

And you can 100% know of a person is 18 or older if you provide the means for people that consent to give that information.

Which is legally required to be asked every new browser session like they explain.

The reason being is because they don't know if it's you on the computer.

If you're using an account, they dont have to ask that if you're verified, and whos on my computer is just me, thanks. There's such thing as parental control on steam that users can setup if they do have family.

You do not really have any reason to talk about legalities when the solutions are simply there. They just need to be implemented.

The whole 'we only save your age per browsing session' is complete bs, if you're browsing from a library pc sure, but I'm logged into my account in the desktop client with my age information saved in it and every single page I browse I get this age popup, it's ridiculous.

They don't know that and cannot legally assume that.

Except they can't because of the legalities.

Please quote me the etxact laws that cant do this?

My account is my responsibility, such as yours is yours. They can legally assume that I am just one person using my account. Steam does not even advice people using the same account as others. Steam advices people the opposite, to make a account for theyr child and set parental control on it. (Such is how it should be)

The only thing matters whhen you're using accounts if you are consenting to give ID,

I will just block you now because you're circlejerking this topic trying to stand by your point (Which you have not.)

The more I read, the sillier it gets. What does he expect Valve to do? Demand users upload a picture of their ID?

"Yes, almighty Valve. I am totally the person on this ID. Definitely not a sibling or family member or fake. Totally moi... W-w-wait, you want to see my face? Sure, let me just... MOOOOOM!"

Screw the government! Remember the age of the account for a year or at least a month at a time!

Age of the account ≠ age of the user.

The thing is that it doesn't even remember my month for some reason. It moves it to January by default. And I accept it. Because I can't be bothered to set it to April every time. Jail me now!

You account is your responsibility. Complying with age gate and privacy laws is Valve's responsibility.

If you have got nothing to contribute then dont post. If you dont like it you can just let it die, because what you're saying is not what I said at all.

I didnt say anything about demanding users to upload a picture of theyr ID. What I have said is that people should be able to opt in doing that (You as another user wont see my ID anyway), to age verify me.

Here is my ID - https://www.idgod.ph/static/assets/img/nukfro.jpg

If its valid how do you know its me? Heck, even if it IS me and my account is validated how do you know its not my kid using the account while I'm at work? Hence why its per browsing session. Once the browsing session ends they can't assume the person is the same person in the previous browsing session, hence why they re-ask.

Why are you using a drivers license? Thats not an ID.

They have various means to know its you based on your payment info.
