This is a gaming platform to play your games and socialize with friends. Not a dating app or twitter where you have to mention what gender and sexual orientation you go by yourself.

Just because there isn't many LGBTQ+ doesn't mean anything. Everything in this app is for everyone. You can be a 30 yo dude and hate blood and porn stuff while liking animal things and a 13 yo girl who has the exact opposite likings.

No one is more than the other. You're just feeling insecure because LGBTQ+ is a minority and you just want to stand out wherever you go and that is toxic.
There are haters sure but there's even way more people who don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about your ideals (with respect) and yet they just stay silent and live their own life.

Also you have to understand there is a lot of LGBTQ+ marketing nowadays because they know you guys will buy it no matter what it is. It can be the most useless thing ever, even a pack of 10 trash bags in rainbow x10 more than normal ones and you'll buy them.
It doesn't happen here because Steam doesn't distinguish people. We're all humans that have money and that's it.

Dont let Steam become a gender political playground. Stay on Twitter instead and leave gamers alone.
What do you think is going to happen to these "gamers" ?

Does it work like the Meowmere from Terraria where someone swings a kitty sword and a deadly rainbow bounces around, slicing open every living thing that it touches? :terraria: :stsword::rainsec: :neko: :ryseblood: :m3goldcoins:
ahahah love that

I dont think thats what he is implying at all. This is a gaming platform, theres really no need to focus on gender really, especially in online game.

Why adding LGBTQ themed items to points shop would be a stupid idea;

1) Harrasment based on sociostatus by displaying the point redeemed items/using them on your profile

2) Steam is not a place for politics, your sexual agenda, or anything like that - Like why do we have to know if you are trans or like ***ing goats?

3) Steam has always been, and will always be, the most toxic platform, you cannot change that, and adding LGBTQ themed items would just make the issues (already present) worse.

#1, LGBT is not politics, and neither are colorful profile cosmetics, because politics is government policy - of which, this suggestion has nothing to do with.

#2,
Pretty sure it only says that about the forums, not the store.
Here are the publishing guidelines :

#3,
If you really do believe that politics & sexual themes supposedly shouldn't be on Steam then I guess you'd better get filing some formal complaints with Steam about what is currently published on their store - see below :

https://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=Sex+with
"10 results match your search. 71 titles (including SEX with HITLER) have been excluded based on your preferences."
UP.

I dont think thats what he is implying at all. This is a gaming platform, theres really no need to focus on gender really, especially in online game.
The topic is about optional profile items for personal use, not online games,
but...
...while we're listing things that there's no need to focus on in online games, here's a few more :
- we don't need to focus on achievements in online games
- we don't need to focus on combat in online games
- we don't need to focus on exploration in online games
- we don't need to focus on strategy in online games
- we don't need to focus on teamwork in online games
- we don't need to focus on cooperation in online games
- we don't need to focus on competition in online games
- we don't need to focus on the color red in online games
- we don't need to focus on characters in online games
- we don't need to focus on story in online games
...

Your online game could literally just be a chalkboard that multiple people can contribute to, but this isn't what most developers choose to do. Instead developers add all sorts of things to games that are frankly unnecessary to make "a game" that has any online connection.
Do we really NEED or even want all these micro-transactions? No but they're going to add them in anyways.

And if someone makes a competitive game and you don't like competitive games, then maybe just don't play that game? There are other games you can choose to play which focus on cooperation or the color slate-blue.

This isn't like how some games include cultural aspects that may feel forced and you weren't apprised of them before you bought the game.
The topic is about colors & shapes on a user's personal profile.
All of the things you had suggested are a big prat of games actually.

*part (Anyways...)

They don't need to be.

There's no reason you can't have a game without cooperation :
look at Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter
There's no reason you can't have a game without competition :
look at Snipper Clips and Animal Crossing and VR Chat
There's no reason you can't have a game w/out characters, story, cooperation, or exploration :
look at Ultimate Tic Tac Toe and various implementations of Air Hockey / Pong
There's no reason you can't have a game with neither competition nor cooperation :
look at any "hang-out" sim game like Gaia Online or Pictochat or Ping Pals
(I'm sure there are better examples but those are best that I can currently think of)

A game like Square Brawl shows us that you don't even need characters or a story - although, the original Pong already set some pretty standards for what a minimalist game might look like.
Even Pong isn't actually minimalist, though.

I created a super simple game in college where there's 2 shapes, one of which (that you don't control) constantly moves towards the one which you can control via the arrow keys. That's it. I didn't even add in a score, game over, win, or background or anything. Just a red rectangle and a red oval on a canvas with a user-input function, and a targeted movement function. My team-mate and I spent an hour just avoiding the oval and laughing about how engaging such a stupidly simple game was to play.
It could have even just been a square in an empty space that the player can move around but that gets boring a lot faster than a square with an obsessively following oval.

Point is, all you need is basic user input and something that responds to that input to make a game - that's all. Literally everything else is extra that are part of a designer's vision that some players will like and others won't. There is no game that is truly for everybody.

...and the same goes for personal content that one can use on their profile.

What do you guys think is going to happen if there's something that you don't like or prefer available for other people to play or use on their own profile, though?
How is that going to affect you?
I think youre going off topic here, What does lgbtq+ stuff effect gameplay?

I think you're projecting your own derailment onto others while avoiding the question about why that's relevant.

Games don't need to be "a certain way" and neither do user profiles, which allow a lot of customization.
Exactly I've never suggested otherwise. Is there something I said you disagree with?
