Valve sold enough Steam Decks. It wouldn't hurt the sales at all. They just stopped when they switched the hardware to the new hardware page layout, when the Index came out.
The Steam Deck is such a success that other companies have already made their own portable devices.
V2 is already in the early stages of development.
optimal would be a portable that would run everything, i want to say hopefully steam deck 2 will ship with multiboot mode, windows / steam os / android selection and have enough hardware specs to keep users smooth sailing.
console store options would also be great addition, i realize that steam might only be interested in steam market place, but realistically steam needs to be interested in everything for it to make it the most diverse hardware on the market.
the potential for users doesn't need to be limited to steam marketplace, the potential for such devices is to be purchased from steam , used on any market place, but for users to see steam as the goto product line, that in itself is like a brand or standard for gaming that steam should be interested in obtaining.
example is
"this device does this, that device does that, but steams device does everything"
the outlook i think would benefit steams development team for steam deck 2
