Text screener for forum comments is needed big time
We now have our Posts screened before they are made public, why not do the same to comments?

I used to love the discussions forums on Steam, but now they are an absolute cesspool. Every post I go into is nothing but people acting like children on xbox 360, calling each other idiots, kids, trolls, saying they have 1 braincell and just generally insulting people.

Its pretty common knowledge these days that nobody likes to use the forums for anything serious anymore bc they are a cesspool of angry edgy teenager-like adults, and actual teenagers, commenting just to argue with others.

Its sad that Valve lets this go on.

There are bots used on other forums on the internet that have a sentiment screener. If what the user is saying is rude, or just straight up harassment, it is removed immediately. I myself have made one for Reddit in the past and they work well.

I highly suggest making some kind of sentiment screener and disallow all comments that are rude, insulting, and harassing.

Although, not even sure why I posted this because if Mods aren't clearing the forums up of the crap that is posted there unless its reported, who is actually going to read this?

The less Steam discussions are like Reddit the better.

The automatic scanner is just checking for malicious links. No matter how well you make a scanner, it will not be able to check for context, only what is typed.

Which could then be bypassed regardless once people figure out how to.
Is it really that important for you that people use the word "children" instead of "kid"? Or are you suggesting that the scanner doesn't scan your posts?

As somebody who is a Programmer in Javascript, Python, C#, and Node.js, and as somebody who has actually made bots that detect rude or harassing language, I can safely say you can 100% check for context with a program.

I have a Discord bot I created that does exactly this for my Game Server.

So you're saying you made a bot that is able to detect context of the conversation with 100% accuracy based of text alone?
Sorry, but this is not a valid complaint ever.
Literally it makes no sense to want a draconian system that stops people from posting anything that might "Be offensive."
Good grief.

Comments on a forum are literally reportable. Report bad comments.
No need for a literal broken filter system.
Not to mention his system would prevent his own posts he's done. Calling someone a child isn't different than calling someone a kid.
