That might not happen. To sell it in a store they have to distribute it at a discount so that the store can make a profit from selling it. If the SteamDeck doesn't have a high profit margin there's not really any amount they can discount it to get it to a reasonable wholesale price without Valve losing a lot of money on each sale. Especially given that, unlike consoles, the stores won't make money selling games to those same customers.

Maybe he should consider an Asus Rog, some stores are selling those. I could go pick up one tomorrow at my local Best Buy.

You could have it shipped to a specific location that you drive to and pick up the package yourself. That way there's less risk of something going wrong at your doorstep. You can bring it to your house the same as anything else and a porch thief can't swipe it.

Valve has sold physical hardware multiple times before and for many years before the Steam Deck. They're not brand new to shipping physical goods. My concerns with ordering stuff online are often over the retailer themselves. The risks of shopping online from Amazon, eBay, and Best Buy are all very different because how these companies run their online business is very different.
well if steam did sell or had been selling steam deck at retail stores from the day it released id already of got one, and so would alot of other people. infact if they had taken a proper marketing standpoint on delivering the steam deck to a wider customer base via retailers it would be much more population and would of indeed reached the masses.

I am just letting steam know that going to a store and buying a steam deck is much more thrilling then clicking a few buttons online and buying it via steam. also i think alot of people get a good feel walking out of a store with a box and having other people see them buying it, it creates nostalgia and draws in attention to the product.

Considering that Valve would have to wholesale the units to those stores at 30-40% off what they already sell it for, why would they give up that kind of money?

Also, the lack of the 'thrill' of buying one in person hasn't stopped several MILLION people from already buying one. Their strategy is working really well so far and it's highly unlikely to change.

So if you want to buy something like that in person, you'll have to check out one of its competitors. I hear that the Asus ROC is available to buy at some stores.

So you are fine paying the same price at retail on launch day you considered excessive to buy it from Steam half a year ago?

Aren't they already selling them as fast as they can produce them? If they already can't keep up with the demand, then they obviously don't need to "reach the masses", especially if they'd have to take a hit in their bottom line to do so.
I am only letting steam know that there is a actual market for retail sales, and it would bring them much more business to ship retail even at a discounted price, because the steam decks main advantage is to sell steam games at its users.

Less then about 10 people own steam decks in my area, and also safe to say that because of competitors joining into the market steam deck is quickly losing purchaser appeal.

I am not sure where all the false information around steam deck is coming from.

1. there has not been millions of units sold

2. by steams own admission the user base is extremely low

3. reviews of the steam deck all support the fact it could of been manufactured better with users in mind to help safe guard the deck from accidents.

I am not sure why a billion dollar company has users worried about its profit, that is sorta suspicious.

this is a actual fact i recently reviewed about steam, in 2010 steam had only 2 million users.

now take into consideration that the inflated numbers all across the internet other major platforms

I think the real question is why are profits a concern when the product is failing to reach millions of potential buyers who don't purchase online.

The example i will give is how do you sell something for steam, to users who never used steam.
Answer is : you don't

Amazon are very generous with returns and refunds. I have had zero issues using them for hardware
