add images/gifs to forums

there are plenty of times in the forums of offtopic where it would be much funnier to put a reaction image/gif (either through embed, like with an

[img=url]

formatting option or just by uploading a file directly to steam, like you can in chats with friends) or something of the sort instead of typing out a reaction.

it could also be implemented kind of like how urls currently work, but instead of displaying a url, it embeds an image into the forum post/reply. have it only accept imgur, giphy, or tenor links so the third party websites have to filter out the bad stuff, and boom. images and gifs embeds.

if adding images to every forum is a bad idea, then it could be a thing that only Off Topic has access to.

also adding a way to spoiler an image would be a good idea, like how you can spoiler screenshots when uploading them to steam.

overall i think images being added to the forums could be a nice quality of life addition that would make it a lot more fun to use the forums.

I would like to see such a system in the screenshot artwork secton of game hubs. The whole game hub system feels dated, which is probably why everyone is on reddit these days instead...

I like the added friction of having to add it as UGC before using it in the forums. Way less visual clutter and crap to report in the forums that way.

People are already mad about jesters and hilarious awards adding this would cause people to be mad or upset because someone will literally upload a jester or a clown or somthing else.

Sadly, I've a funny feeling it would get abused lol. And Steam probably doesn't want to deal with that.
