Steam already does this
As a user, I can confirm that "copying what someone else is doing?” just made me an even more loyal customer of Steam.
But whatever makes you feel better about being a Steam customer, have at it.
The EGS is partly coping Steam.
But with how much money the EGS throws at devs for exclusivity, they have yet to make any money.
Yeah, that's epic games model.
And mostly argentinians are mad, because almost every other country in those groups are getting regional prices for the first time.
Think about that.
Argentina and Turkey are seeing higher prices as a result though, and are in regions with other countries.
Compared to Epic Store, Turkey and Argentina are still each their own region for regional pricing. Epic covers every country and territory for regional pricing (minus the illegal ones for example North Korea).
it would be good for Valve to have at the very least the same kind of Regional pricing setup that Epic Store has, that way there is a lot more opportunity for dev/pubs to price their games better in a lot more countries around the world.
It would be convenient for some users you mean. Like I don't get this argument. If Epic does things the way you want them, then all like minded users should go start shopping on Epic. You guys can't use Epic's decisions to convinces, persuade or strong arm valve unless you're willing to follow through.
I think you overestimate developer/publisher interest in managing prices for every country, especially countries with worthless currencies.
After all since Epic has this covered developers and publishers should be cleaning house if there's really any value there at all. And EGS should be making money hand over fist if all the under served countries are capable of generating significant revenue on any scale. But that doesn't seem to be happening. Is it because those countries just aren't worth much, or is Epic Game Store the best kept secret in PC gaming?
Why would things change if "Valve did it". Poor countries aren't just poor, they're stubborn too? Maybe there's just not as much point as you think and Valve knows it, but you don't.
Steam has 40 regions, Epic has 52 regions, it's only 12 more regions for dev/pubs to deal with, that is not that many more regions. Regional pricing doesn't have to include the regional currencies, a lot of the regions that Epic supports are in USD, similar to what Steam already does with some regions being in USD line LATANM, MENA, CIS regions.
What I don't get is why are you even arguing against this when it won't have any negative affects on you.
People like you have been arguing against improving Steam for years, including adding in more countries for regional pricing. Its good that Valve added more countries for regional pricing today, something that people like you have argued against Valve doing in the years past.
Only Argentinians and Turkish of whom most of whom are region hoppers and not actual residents of those countries. Everyone else are just fine with it.
They are to the forum what giving an unplugged controller to your younger cousin is like. They are wrong but let them run with it, isn't causing any harm to anyone.
