ability to lock a certain amount of money to a product

so heres an idea what if you have some money in your wallet but your saving it for a title thats coming out but you want to spend some more money so the games price is shown and you have the ability to lock the amount of money to the product so when you buy something else the website says would you like to use your other funds to purchase this product

Why have to lock it? When paying for an item you can already pick a different payment method and not use your steam wallet.

On the one hand I can understand the words you're saying, and I understand the desire for weird micromanaging. But as someone who can just afford games, I don't understand how this benefits users with limited means, just seems to make it complex.

If you can afford to buy things with an external payment option, I'm not sure why you need to save wallet funds. Use the external payment method to buy games until you want to use the wallet funds. Or use the wallet funds, and then use the external payment method later.

Now or later, what does it matter?
