Have a group of moderators who audit reports
Hopefully some of the volunteer mods could chime in on if this was ever a thing or discussed, but one of the best practices for moderation is to have a group do random audits on tickets and their response.

This helps prevent any bad moderation, and helps identify mistakes. The group would consist of multiple moderators who rotate around, and they are not allowed to audit their own responses. I know several users have raised concerns over moderators whom are being manipulated and this would be a relatively easy way to help improve the quality and accuracy of moderation

I was smacked by someone using their "Jump to conclusion" mat (the home game). I wrote four words and nobody asked me what I meant.
Maybe you Brian could apply for the job
funny.. one of your guys get booted and suddenly you want audits etc while you normally would just say: don't break the rules/follow the simple rules

turn tabled and such lol

better comedy than the coup or any Biden speech..

Hard pass, i've done it before for other companies and have no desire to EVER do so again.
Can't people just stop with making stupid suggestions about moderation and just, you know, ignore the people they don't like? All it achieves is maintaining a toxic status quo on the forums.

The practice of auditing tickets is actually very routine and part of the best practices for a moderation team. This is not about not liking anyone, this is a completely random audit with no bias simply to make sure that moderation is meeting the standards Valve expects. Its especially valuable if your moderation is not being done in house, as every business should be conducting routine audits of quality control for their internal processes.

I also wouldn't be surprised if such a practice already occurs, but if not its very valuable.
I mean that assumes Valve HAS a standard, given their latest patch history, does anyone REALLY still believe that?

What are you talking about?
Steam Moderation Audits? This is called escalation to Steam Support Staff who can overrule ANY moderator or developer decision on Steam, which also includes (but rarely seen) overruling other Steam Support Staff as well.

If you have an issue with Steam Valve third-party moderation, take it up with Valve support in Bellevue, WA. They will set the record straight.

No an escalation is not an audit. Audits are a routine part of basically every business in the world done internally to gauge your accuracy.

People making tickets about bad moderation isn't going to give you a usable metric. You need a random unbiased sampling, and ideally your audit will find everything was done correctly

So, lol, you are advising Valve to consider a multi-million dollar proposal of hiring auditors for their third-party moderation system? Good luck with that one.

Hardly a multi-milllion dollar proposal. All you'd really need is 1-2 people to conduct the audit, assuming its not already being done. I mean they would already be getting or should be getting reports on metrics such as # of tickets closed per moderator, average duration before ticket is closed, etc.

Part of running a company is ensuring your company is being run well afterall.
I do find it interesting. Though I have been creating a new type of Moderators as zealous troopers in my own environment. However in this case, where auditors SHOULD be hired/provide the who, what, and right and wrong in Moderation. Good idea!
I would be rather surprised if this already wasn't a thing behind the scenes. Moderators , especially at the professional outsourced level, have supervisors and are subject to reviews by their client.
