does steam regulate dev bots?
does steam care if devs are making bots that are designed to look like players in their games?

lets make this painfully clear shall we: intended to look like players, not training bots
Again, what game? Because I've yet to see a convincing dev/server bot in a multiplayer game.

i just want to know one simple thing which no has been able to answer barring not sounding very snooty in the process: does steam care

DOES STEAM CARE?

Doesn't count on traffic pages, only server active player count. Thus, the in-game number still relies on humans having the game running.

Some server browsers use obvious bot names for bots, or put BOT/BOTS in the front of the name, which is up to the server operator to name bots if people want to see how many real people are in.

What. Game? The only game I've seen even semi-competent dev bots were on Tarkov and even then a dedicated player can tell pretty easily.

While I appreciate theat you aren't trying to to call me the gollum to your lord of the rings I must still offer up an orcish protest.

And both can generate money for Valve :DukeCash:
Dev bots are server-side, they don't get drops. Rofl

Yeah... unless they're designed to look like human players, as mentioned in the op:

You're being intentionally obtuse to try and rip on Steam, while leaving out a TON of content.

What game exactly is trying to implement bots that look and act like players?

Which OP continually keeps navigating around mentioning.

You should name the game that this is in regard to.

Regardless, I don't really believe there's an issue here since this seems like normal operation for a multi-player game. Also the devs don't control dedicated servers that are non official.

Plus, as mentioned, the bots might not even be Dev made, like the TF2 bots stomping lobbies atm.

im sneakily suspicious on many gaming fronts, most especially ubisoft concerning brawhalla. i think if steam could call them out they might be able to rake in extra dollars. i'm not for that kind of play mind you but if it helps the greater good, im just not sure. you know we just talkin as gamers who want to do right by the industry we put ourr hard earned time and money into.

Oh no I get it, if a Dev is being duplicitous sure. But we can't automatically assign malice.

From the looks of it, they didn't really make bots to "mimic" people, but upped the AI to play better against players? And this has been around for at least 6+ months, seemingly.

Seems more like they just upped parameters, added more reactionary ability, and upped the difficulty slider.

Like when you up the AI difficulty in Smash, you get basic AI, then you've got stuff that dodges, ledge guards, and actually punishes when you crank it to 9.

Or are you talking potential bots in player matches?

I can't help but feel like you're sole duty in life here is to parlay such questions? Should I look up your profile posts history?
