Perks For Seniors?
As in Senior Citizens. Old folks. I literally have no idea how it could even be done but as a gamer in my 60's on a fixed income waiting for a game to go on sale so I can afford it is like, "Hmm, good chance I'll be dead before that happens." What about a "Senior" discount on some games for us "one foot on a banana peel" crowd? Like the new Baldurs Gate 3 for the love of God! I'll never get the damn thing! How about it Steam?

Oh yeah, let me create a new account and claim that discount by pretending to be a 70 year old senior.

That surely will never be abused.

We were all born January 1, 1900 going by the age gates entries.

Steam via international law cannot save our date of birth due to privacy laws.
So how would they know if what age we are if they can't save that data?
Cathulhu Aug 5, 2023 @ 12:15pm
And even if they save it, how do they know we are honest about our age?

^^^^^^^^
On the internet anyone can lie about their age, gender, or a dozen other things.
The people running the sites can only take the users word for it.

You are all 100% right. Just glad I'm different than those that would take advantage. May sound strange to 99% of people today, but I never broke a law in my life. Not even a parking ticket. I feel pretty good about that compared to... well, today. Makes me feel pretty damn unique actually. Thanks all for the comments!

This may not be much but assuming you could find a retail establishment that gives discounts to seniors and also sells Steam Gift Cards...

There is no age verification on steam which already gives your suggestion little hope. There is also the matter of convincing the game developers to allow their games to be sold at a discount outside of the timeframe that the developers would normally apply a discount for their games (sale). Right now your best bet is to ask game developers individually if you can have a discount on a game.

I can't imagine this would be difficult to implement via a third party. A PayPal discount code, for example.

PayPal deleted my account and won't let me have another with the same information.

If you think crime is just something that "kids these days" are doing and that it's not really something people used to do...I have a lot to tell you about crime statistics.

Wouldnt work now as steam is still too young but in decades to come very possible.
Cant fake a 60 steam member badge.

Except Steam doesn't know who's using the account. It could be great-great-grand-kid Timmy all we know.

Family share Timmy's copy. What he won't let you? Threaten to take him off your will!

I was talking about Years on Steam badge not proving anything as Steam doesn't know who's using the account. Even if the account were 60 years old, 10 years old great-great-grand-kid Timmy could be the one using it for all we know.
