add a way to change the default update setting
I want a way to make it so everything is updated only when I try to start it.
I don't want to go through the hassle of changing it one by one.

Scheduling doesn't work, games still update at random times. The default is "update whenever" and it should be "Update when launching game".

Yes its a good idea to add a global settings to toggle all games to either turn on, or off between "automatically update", and "update when launch you launch the game".

You already have a thread and on that thread you insisted that a global option for disabling updating was removed.

This is the suggestion section. My other thread was in the discussion section.

the option isn't there. regardless of whether or not it used to I'm asking to have it now.

And yet you insisted an option that never existed was removed.

Valve created Steam to update their games and secondly to give other developers an easy way to update the games they own. The default is always update hence why when you press play on a game set to "only update when i launch it" it actually updates the game if there is an update available.

The developer can use version choice via branches giving you choice over which version of the game which stops auto updating but it is their choice to do so.

this is the suggestion section. your comment is irrelevant

i'm asking for a way to change the settings of all games at once so I don't have to manually do it one by one. let's keep it at that.

It is a "discussion" forum for suggestions and ideas hence other opinions.

All Discussions > Steam Forums > Suggestions / Ideas
