Which country? It is still available to use in the US. https://imgur.com/a/vf0oOC8
im sure an organization like Steam would gain profits from allowing amex in countries outside of US more then they'll have loses over it.
there were quite a few members who admitted to not being able to use other methods suggested. so i get wanting to get more thus disabling the option but now when people got used to the new method brining it back for the people who can't buy at the moment will bring more benefits, i assume.
there are much smaller companies still working with amex all around the world it's not as bad as people like suggesting.
If you can get Amex, you can get Visa or MC
Amex is available here in local stores, it's available and working for online stores and other games platforms, it's avialable for apple store and google play as well. this is not on the card issuers end. also it is well known that its Steam who chose to not allow members outside of US to use it as a payment method.
the solution to go get a new credit card for the sole use of buying on Steam is a bit extreme imo.
moreover the idea that a long time customer of an organization has to pay extra in order to BUY on their platform seems illogic to me.
i've always paid on Steam using amex and since it's been removed i can't even open CSGO boxes, and yes obviously buy new (and old) games as well.
Valve manages their business how they see fit. Most decisions aren't mistakes or accidents, so while you might be sure of this or that concerning Steam, if it runs contrary to the reality of what Valve has decided to do, how do you square that?
Are some of your guesses wrong, or is Valve always wrong as far as your infallible guesses are concerned?
Other businesses are free to do whatever they want. And Valve isn't obligated to make the same decisions because you can find some favorable examples. I mean what's your end game? Confirmation bias that Valve is clueless and needs to be convinced "everyone else is doing it, so they should to"?
You're free to believe and imagine what you want, it has not bearing on reality or Valve's decisions. Valve is more than capable of deciding what FOP's to accept. And unlike your assumptions and feelings, they have informed opinions about what works for their business.
Go buy games at your local stores then.
"Long term customers" needs aren't above Valve's own needs in most cases I'm afraid. And a lot of things are going to seem illogical if you only view it from a self-serving perspective and are relying on confirmation biases to maintain your arguments.
Well you use another FOP, or you no longer by things from Steam until AMEX is added back, if ever. Your needs and wants don't negate Valve's decisions because you don't get it and would find it convenient and "logical".
i bought a bunch using my amex until the option was removed. bring it back please."
this, my original post, was merely a request to bring back a payment method that was avialable and USED for years.
this was not a "why is it not available" or "what do you think should it be?"
nevertheless, i guess this is the moment i should thank all the people who were unaffected by this change and feel the need to rush and express their opinion as to why my request should not be fulfilled, here goes:
thank you for speculating how things are for valve and how wrong i am,
thank you for expressing how i should find solution and go purchase a new credit card to use as if you run my household,
thank you for disregarding the difference between a big company and a person when talking about who should make the effort to be more accessable.
i hope you people don't run bussinesses, and if you do - good luck.
unsubscribing from this.
find another issue you have been unaffected by, and was not asked your opinion to go out against.
cheers.
