Global gifting
Title pretty much says it all. With people on the internet from all over the world it just blows my mind that Steam still hasn't developed a way to gift games cross-region. If you're that worried about people abusing this to gift games to themselves with an account from a cheaper location, then at least give the option to pay the price the recipient would be paying if it is more expensive, or a currency conversion fee.

Recently tried gifting a bunch of games to a friend in Europe (I'm NA), and it says I can't due to regional price differences. Tried sending them a gift card and same thing. Never thought it would be this hard to give Steam my money smh.

That can happen due to how publishers have set prices for their games between the different regions. I run into this occasionally when gifting friends in Europe from the US. However, there are still games that can be gifted because they fall under the 10% price difference threshold. So, gifting between regions works but it's based on how the publishers have set their prices.

Sending a digital gift card does not error out about regional price differences. There can be other limitations but it's definitely not the "same thing".

If they gave an option to pay what the recipient would pay, then everyone is going to chose the cheapest regions. That's an ignorant suggestion. People will always choose a cheaper option and making the option available would mean people are going to abuse it.

Aside from that, they can't charge you a different price than they have advertised to you. If you want that to change, start lobbying your local politicians to change the laws that limit bait and switch pricing. I'm sure retailers would LOVE the opportunity to charge you more than you should pay.
