(Resolved) New game tag for PORN games

I've noticed in the last year or so the increase of pornographic games. These are not games with brief moments of nudity or sexual content, these are full blown hard core pornographic games with everything you'd see on something like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I'm not here to make a value statement about it, I recognize there must be a growing market for these games or else they wouldn't keep being produced.

My suggestion/idea would be to create a specific tag OR place for these games so folks who are either looking for, or to avoid these games can do so effectively.

The current problem is many of these games are listed with very broad tags, like mature content, nudity, NSFW, etc. If I wanted to block these types of tags I'd be blocking more than just the porn games, I'd be blocking games I would otherwise be fine with playing (like the Witcher games, War games, role playing games, etc) Mature content more than just sex, its very broad.

The only way I can effectively screen out these games from popping up on the store tab is by clicking on these games store page when the pop up in the main store page and clicking ignore. The problem with that is by clicking on the store page for each specific game I'm then shown preview images of full penetration, sexual acts, (what used to be Rated "X" content back in the day). If I were someone who struggled with porn addiction these images would surely cause me to fall off the wagon.

Even mousing over these games in the store main page will often show you pop up images of full on porn. This makes it very difficult when say sitting down with your kid looking for a new game and one of these porn games is on the new releases tab. This happened to me when my daughter and I went on the store page to look for a new game we could play for Christmas. She moused over a game that had a very innocent looking title (something that maybe a little girl would like) and the preview images popped up were of a bunch of women getting f*&^%d in the ass (excuse my french, I hope you can understand my frustration) Which completely invalidated the whole reason I was sitting down with her in the first place, which was to make sure she didn't see/wander into any of these games. And that was after I had already blocked a number of tags in the first place.

As for myself I also don't want to see these games and despite my best efforts to add tags to block them, these games still manage to make it onto the main store page where I have to see them, especially since the only way to block them is by clicking on the game itself to click the ignore button.

To finalize, I'm not suggestion we remove these games from Steam. Many patrons enjoy that type of content and they should be allowed to have access to it. I would just like the tools to be able to block this content effectively, WITHOUT also blocking other normal games I might be interested in play, and WITHOUT having to go into the store page of each individual Porn game that pops up, seeing the preview images, before I'm able to effectively block them.

I anticipate some people might take issue with my concerns and want to engage in some kind of values based debate about porn, or may even try to critique my parenting skills (especially from those who don't have kids) I'm not interested in any of that. I want people to still be able to enjoy those games while giving those of us the tools to screen out that type of content.

It would be nice if there was an very specific tag (Like the tag "porn") that I could add to my block list that would prevent all of these games from showing up on the Main Steam Store page.

or maybe the folks at Steam could make sure pornographic games ONLY viewable through the adult only area?

Oh...I dont want to sound rude but someone brought this up in the past but I think with some horror game and to say how they did that thread..the main page shows whats popular all the time even if the game is blocked. Like mine alone has the most popular games all ignored xD and most of those are not even adult!

As far as I know, there is no alternative for viewing all the new and trending/popular stuff that also takes into account your block tags.

It really defeats the purpose of having tags to block if they appear on the main store page regardless of blocked status.

Q: Sometimes I see blurred out games on my Store front page. Why is that?

A: There are a number of sections on the front page that we fill with games, and to ensure the servers behind it don't melt down as everyone tries to use it, we do a lot of data caching. This works great for data sets that we can easily pre-compute - so if there's a game you shouldn't see due to your mature content filters, you'll never see it on the front page. But if you've chosen to do some more personal filtering of particular developers, or specific games, we can't do that pre-computation as easily. As a result, it's possible you'll see a blurred out game on the front page because your personal filters should cause it to be hidden. In practice, though, this will only happen if you've filtered out so many games that it can't find enough to fill a section of the front page, and again, like the search results, we'll blur that game out and tell you why.

I've blocked "tags" before in the past, so that's probably where my confusion is. If they've made is super easy to block all that stuff without blocking any other games that aren't pornographic, then its what I'm looking for.

Aside from tags, I'm ignorant of how they categorize things beyond that.

You don't and you can't unless you ask a mod to lock it by reporting your own post.

Also, that preference setting is off by default.
You had to manually change it to allow Adult Games to be shown in the first place.

No glitches can cause it to be set to on either.

Well, I've been on steam for a LONG time, and I don't recall ever clicking it.
