STOP AUTOMATICALLY UPDATING WORKSHOP MODS
Title. I just had a Zomboid save broken because one of my workshop mods updated without me knowing. Why it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard to have bare minimum control of when our mods/games can be updated?
When workshop content gets updated we don't even have a way to know which mod was it, since the download tab just list the game and "workshop content" in the download list, without giving a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue as to which mod was it.

Seriously, this has been a problem for years and still hasn't been addressed, how incompetent can you guys be?

Zomboid is updated decently frequently.
Zomboid mods are updated fairly regularly.

If you want the workshop mods not to update, ask the person making the mod to make individual versions listed in the workshop. There's also moddb and nexusmods that may have the versions listed.

What a stupid solution, how about not forcing updates instead or give us an option to stop mods from updating?

What a stupid demand. If you don't want mods to update, get them elsewhere. Getting updates is just about the whole point of the workshop.

Getting constant updates can literally break your saves, literally every single Bethesda game works that way. Are you guys really sub 90 iq? Jesus Christ

It's a realistic solution. Not all modders want people running older versions that may be prone to bugs. Else, the mods are updated to match the game version.

Valve doesn't force developers or modders to list all versions of something.

I have no issues with Bethesda games and mods if I wait patiently. Backing up saves periodically if you know this is an issue, can also be done if you like to use too many mods.

Since Bethesda games usually have multiple auto saves - you could backup using that as it'd still be present and undamaged.

Not a hard thing to do.

Moddb, nexus mods, or message the mod maker though there is zero guarantee they backed up an older version.
You know whats funny is some Stellaris workshop mods like ACOT literally when updated, trying to reload a save that had a prior version of the mod will literally prompt you a warning with "The Intergalatic panda has come with a warning" and tells ya how the mod updated and chances are things are broken, you can indeed choose to ignore the warning in which you get a second pop up that literally says "Fine but dont come crying to us when everything breaks" or click the other button that ends the game.

In this situation I'd say be glad mod makers sometimes provide a heads up they updated their content, otherwise its not a problem and nothing needs to be addressed, because like games, mod makers and decide if they want to provide legecy verisons of their mod or not, if not then oh well.

How about no? Your demand is literally nothing short of "Let me steal this content thats still being worked on because I dont like what the creator has done to their creation." levels of petty.

What part of "you can't even know which mod updated or not because the workshop doesn't show you" you didn't understand, you knuckle dragging inbred mongrel? Your whole point about Stellaris mods doesn't apply since THEY GIVE YOU A WARNING, YOU BRAINLET, YOU DON'T GET THESE WITH ZOMBOID. It's not a modding issue, it's a VALVE issue that don't let users have control OVER THEIR OWN SAVE FILES. It simply shouldn't update mods unless WE CLICK TO UPDATE THEM, simple as.

Edit: Oh, username checks out lmao

I was unaware I was speaking from a user from /b/ but hey if so then I'll snoop to your low just not insultingly low. The funny thing is, if the mod updates, then tell me sir where is the other files you use are going to come from? You said it yourself, unless someone saves a legecy verison, your literally using files that no longer either exist or basically were removed

Second, Steam does clearly tell you which mods updated recently, go to Content in your profile, go to literally your subscribe section and switch it to filter by "update date" and bam, you know the mod.

Note: How is it a Valve issue, your playing with mods, already your entire idea of Valve having a part is null and void because any fool to thinking they have the right to get mad at the game developers when a mod breaks the game are already outright the dumbest people I hear whining.

Your warned that mods break a game, a "use at your own risk", in this case, why would valve be at fault for already something you downloaded that is "use as your own risk"?

Seriously mate, the fact that you not only can check which mods updated which I do rather normally due to me having 103 for Stellaris and using the built-in Steam update content area makes it easier for me, the fact you think Valve is at fault for literally mods is also rather bluntly ignorate when you already should know that mods are use at your own risk.

Also please learn to read, the fact your screaming your mind to the hills yet were unable to see that I said "The mod developer of ACOT gives a warning' while "others dont" should be a rather clear sign that I made it clear that some mod makers give indeed a warning, I never said Stellaris does but provided you want to scream like an angry mule then read stuff over, I cant expect much less, I dealt with someone yesterday who got mad and read between the lines then there as well.

2/10 attempt of insult, not like others have not told it to me several hundred times either, but at least you tried, again however I'm not expecting much from the OP already as is.

I guess this will never be addressed.

Would be that hard for Steam to give us a option like:

This workshop item [...] has an update available. Do you like to update? <YES> | <NO>

I haven't dabbled with the workshop side of things myself however if it is like the gaming side then you are going to experience the same thing regarding updates. Contact the mod developer and ask if they can lessen the updates. You could also ask the game developer to make branches so yours won't break.

At the very least I think it listing in the download tab which specific mod was updated would be a good change rather than it just saying 'workshop'. But this topic is going to be locked to "prevent confusion" so *shrugs*...

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
