The points were a free gift you received for making a purchase.
All items you buy with points are cosmetic.
There is no value in the points so Steam will not refund point shop purchases.
Obviously you don't and cannot buy steam points directly.
Deleting them would be another valid option, although it'd be nice and user-friendly to give a partial refund for deleted points store items I feel. After all, as a business you want to encourage your customers to go out and purchase more things, right?
This doesn't encourage more purchases though. And I don't care what kind of BS you'll try to spin to claim otherwise. What you are asking for is to be able to have a product and use it and then get the majority of its value back after you are done with it. People would need to buy less things then, because rather than needing to make purchases to get more points they'd be able to recycle their points and not have to make as many purchases to buy more things from the points store.
Maybe they can do something for people who have a bunch of things they don't want anymore. Being able to delete them, maybe being able to craft a badge or something, but simply letting people recoup most of the points they spent is not something that they'd do.
Yes it does? The amount of store points you get is literally determined by how much you spend on the steam store, $1 is 100 points or something like that.
Okay? Nothing you've really said there goes against the idea of a partial refund of points from deleting steam inventory items, the same way you can recycle cards, emotes and backgrounds into gems?
Especially as it isn't hard to get points. The loads of points award farming reviews, threads, guides, artworks, screenshots, etc show that.
that's not what they're trying to say. They're saying that Steam points are free because you don';t get an additional charge on the prices of games. If the points actually cost money, the prices would be slightly higher than they were before the Steam points got introduced. A game pirced 60 was still priced 60 after the points shop got introduced, even though you then additionally got points.
You are clearly also mistaken, Steam points are earned through all the money spent on the steam store, I never said valve charges additonally for them because thats idiotic. They're basically a free loyalty bonus for spending money on steam games.
There, I added an addendum for it. Happy?
I recognise the "clarification", I am aware of how Steam Points work.
When I originally responded to that other guy, it was that the "clarification" had no bearing on what my suggestion was.
